James Earnest Toland, Sr., 63, of Caddo Mills, died Monday morning, Feb. 21, 2011.
James was born July 25, 1947, to Earnest and Leta Faye Toland in Abilene, Texas. He had retired as a senior manager for Honeywell in Richardson, Texas. James proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War in Korea and Taiwan. He also served as a State Trooper in Maryland and as Police Chief in Haskell, Texas.

Thelma Pauline Arnold, age 80, of Lubbock, Texas (former resident of Sweetwater, Texas), passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Lakeside Nursing & Rehab in Lubbock, Texas.Â
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home with Chaplain Allen McGuire officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 from 6-8 p.m.Â
February 21st
Jimmy Lynn Buckner, 60, of Sweetwater, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
His body was cremated and no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A graveside service for Peggy Lois Runyard, 87, of Lake Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Garden of Memories Cemetery with Mark White officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Runyard died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at The Hoyt House in Sweetwater.
Lavonne H. Terry, 72, of Amarillo died on Friday, February 18, 2011.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Dr. Robby Barrett, Minister of Education, First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at the Palava Cemetery in Palava, Texas with William Mayo officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Grace Legate Kreger Bernard passed away on Feb. 16, 2011.
Grace was born on April 8, 1913 to Willis Kreger and Amanda Legate Kreger. Her father was a minister at the Burkburnet, TX Church of Christ and Amanda was a teacher, both educated at Gunter Christian College and Thorp Springs Christian College. Grace was the oldest of four children and later two half sisters. She attended grade school at Tioga, TX, graduating from Burkburnet High School in 1930.
Eva Jacques, age 92, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away, Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.Â
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, recited by Maria Acuña.Â
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic ChurchÂ
with Rev. Michael Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.Â
Eldorado-Auti "Sonny" Turner, 77, of Eldorado, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, in Austin. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Eldorado Cemetery Chapel. Burial will follow in Eldorado Cemetery.

McKinney — Oneda “Aunt Dodo” Thompson, 98, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, in a McKinney hospital. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Reverend Jimmy Griffith officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.Â
Oneda was born Sept. 12, 1912, the first child of James and Etta (Shouse) McWilliams at Shep in Nolan County. She married E.R. “Shorty” Thompson June 18, 1938. He preceded her in death May 23, 1997.

A graveside service for Jimmie Watson "Jim" Brown, 85, of Sweetwater will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Lloyd Harris officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Brown died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at his home.
