Taylor Jones has been chosen Football Player of the Week for Sweetwater. Jones, a third-year senior starter at quarterback, completed 15 of 22 passes for 149 yards and one touchdown, and was also the Mustangsâ€™ top rusher with 87 yards on 25 carries against Wylie this past Friday in Sweetwaterâ€™s district opener. He has accounted for over 1,200 yards passing and running this season. In addition, Jones played at free safety against Wylie and assisted on two tackles.
Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s varsity tennis team brought home a number of medals from Andrewsâ€™ fall tourna-ment held this past Friday and Saturday.
In boys singles, Chris Hernandez placed third in Flight One while Stephen Shipp took second-place honors in Flight 3 and Michael Redondo was third in Flight 4.
In boys doubles, Chris Hernandez and Isaiah Her-nandez brought home the overall first-place medal, while Shipp and Redondo took third-place honors in Flight 2 boys doubles at the two-day tournament.
