July 7, 2011

Only a handful of teams are good enough to make it to the sectional round of Little League all-star play each summer.
But not only does Sweet-water have a pair of teams going to sectionals, most of the players on those teams have been there before.

Sweetwater’s 11-4 victory over Wylie on Tuesday in the second — and final — 10-11 year-old District 5 Little League All-Star championship game at Sweetwater’s Major League Field represented a true “team” effort.

July 5, 2011

After suffering their first loss on Friday, Sweetwater’s 10-11 year-old Little League all-stars have rediscovered the magic that has them one win away from going to a sectional tournament for the second straight year.
Sweetwater, which fell to the losers bracket after an 8-6 defeat Friday against Wylie in the semifinals, got some sweet revenge with a 7-5 victory when the teams met again on Monday in the championship game at Sweetwater’s Major League field. Since both teams now have one loss, they will meet again at 7 p.m. today to decide the District 5 title at the same location.
