Though he wasn’t a one-man team, Rotan’s Bryson Alls certainly did everything he could to help his team beat Ranger here Saturday.
Alls had three intercep-tions, including one with 10 seconds left that thwarted the Bulldogs’ final drive, plus a fumble recovery and also rushed for 84 yards in leading the Yellowhammers to a 26-20 victory in the finale of the seventh annual Sammy Baugh Classic.
Sam Nemir is Sweetwater’s Football Player of the Week. Nemir, a 5-9, 170-pound senior who starts at fullback and linebacker, was the team’s leading tackler and rusher this past Friday against Monahans. He had an outstanding defensive game with eight solo tackles, one for a loss, eight assisted tackles and one sack. In addition, he rushed five times for 23 yards.
The Sweetwater High School tennis team went to Big Spring for its first match of the fall season this past Thursday and lost by a score of 13-8.
“We fell short, but we fought hard to the end,” said SHS coach Shella Arnwine. “I am very happy with how we started.”
