Lady Stangs lose close one

January 12, 2011

A Sweetwater team that came into its district opener against Snyder at Mustang Gym with a 15-10 record, nine wins in its last 11 games and high hopes of a playoff berth never quite found its rhythm Tuesday.
Instead, it was the visiting Lady Tigers who jumped to an early lead and was vir-tually in control all the way in a 46-43 victory.
Still, Sweetwater — which never led — was able to stay within striking distance and had a chance to win or at least send the game into overtime until the very end.

SW boys fall

January 12, 2011

A Sweetwater boys basketball team that has struggled to find a spark in recent weeks was simply no match for San Angelo Lake View here Tuesday.
The Chiefs launched two dominating runs — one in each half — en route to an 84-32 victory.
The first run turned an 8-7 Lake View edge into a 28-7 advantage midway through the second quarter, and the Chiefs’ lead stayed between 19 and 34 points until a basket by Sweetwater’s Dylon Adames made it 58-30 with 6:09 to play. Then it got real ugly, as Lake View scored 26 of the final 28 points.
