SNYDER — Sweetwater’s District 5-3A girls opener at Snyder got off to a rough start on Tuesday, as the host Lady Tigers jumped out to a 21-13 lead after one quarter and never looked back en route to a 56-47 win.
Roscoe’s teams had their first district doubleheader of the high school basket-ball season Tuesday, but Haskell came away with victories in both games.
Haskell won the girls game 37-25, then ended the night with a 63-29 victory in the boys contest.
Lynnsi Moses led Ros-coe’s girls (0-2) with a team-high 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Jacinda Morales had seven points and four steals, while Sara Kingston scored four points and Torrey Willman had three.
SAN ANGELO — The Sweetwater boys basket-ball team got a great in-dividual scoring effort from Kaleb Hoover in its final non-district game on Tuesday as the 6-2 sophomore torched San Angelo Lake View for 28 points. But he was vir-tually a one-man crew, as the Mustangs came away with a 44-29 loss.
Sweetwater (9-14) was able to stay close until Lake View (7-14) pulled away down the stretch after leading the Mustangs by just three points near the end of the third period.
