Six-man domination

October 8, 2012

Picked by one area publication to finish last in their respective districts, Nolan County’s two six-man foot-ball teams have proved to be anything but pushovers during the non-district por-tion of their schedules.
And both Highland (4-2) and Blackwell (3-3) — who end non-district play Friday by facing each other in their “Battle of the Hornets” at Highland — had lopsided wins Saturday while playing in front of friendly homecoming crowds.

Buffaloes run past Roscoe, 27-12

October 8, 2012

ROSCOE — It looked as if it might be a long night for Roscoe when Cross Plains’ Blake Hutchins ran 87 yards for a touchdown just over a minute in. But the Plowboys responded with two scores of their own for a 12-7 lead.
Ultimately, Cross Plains — and Hutchins — were too much to overcome, howev-er, as the Buffaloes regained the lead before halftime and pulled away over the final two periods for a 27-12 win at Plowboy Field.
