After compiling a 3-1 record during the teamâ€™s first homestand of the 2012 baseball season while hosting its Wood Bat Classic, Sweetwater hits the road today for a 7 p.m. game at Midland Greenwood.
After picking up three straight wins at the Classic held at Newman Park by an aggregate score of 28-2, Sweetwater lost in its final game Saturday to the Ran-ger Junior College JV, 12-8.
The Mustangs (5-4-1) started out their tournament Friday with shutout wins over both Post (14-0) and Wall (2-0), then routed Clyde 12-2 Saturday before losing to Rangerâ€™s JV team.

FRIDAY, MARCH 9
After being the last school to make an appearance in its Wood Bat Classic at Newman Park, the host Sweetwater baseball team quickly made a strong im-pression Friday with back-to-back shutout wins.
The Mustangs opened by crushing Post 14-0 in their first game, then held off Wall 2-0 to complete the sweep. The victories pushed Sweetwater (4-3-1) over the .500 mark for the first time this season, though they still had two more games on Saturday to wrap up their annual three-day event.
The Sweetwater girls golf team placed second at the Brownwood tournament that was held last week. Pictured from left are team members Molly Fincher, Elise Lawrence, Amy Witt, Haylee Stewart, Rachel Hunt, Alex Gomez and Alexis Castillo.
The Sweetwater High School girls golf team won second place after firing a one-day 374 total this past Monday at the Brownwood Bluebonnet Invitational.
Sweetwaterâ€™s Alex Gomez took second place medalist honors after winning a play-off with Snyderâ€™s Faith Wil-liams and Sabrina Castillo. All three shot 87s at the end of regulation, finishing just two shots behind Kayla Johnson of Wylie.
