With just a week left until the season opener against Eastland on Aug. 31 at the Sammy Baugh Classic, Sweetwater head football coach Shane Mobley is hop-ing to get a good evaluation of his team in today’s final scrimmage against San Angelo Lake View at the Chiefs’ stadium.
Though it will be played primarily under a controlled format, the scrimmage — which begins at approximately 6:30 p.m. after the freshman and JV teams scrimmage at 5 — will more closely resemble what fans can expect to see once the season begins.

The Sweetwater High School volleyball team began action at the Nita Vannoy Memorial Tourna-ment in San Angelo today after losing at Seminole in its most recent match this past Tuesday.
Sweetwater comes into the two-day tournament with a 6-5 overall record after falling to Seminole in four highly-competitive games Tuesday. The Lady Mustangs — who had also lost to Seminole in four games when the teams met in Sweetwater a week earlier — won the first game 25-19, but Seminole came back to win the last three games by nail-biting scores 25-23, 25-23 and 25-22 in claiming the match.
