A junior high basketball camp will be held June 3-6 at the Roscoe gym for boys and girls entering grades 6-9. Sessions will be from 6-8 p.m. each day. The cost is $30. Call Kelly Jo Sexton, camp facilitator, at (254) 784-0991.
Roscoe Plowboy Foot-ball Camp will be June 10-11 at the Roscoe football field. This is for boys and girls who are entering grades 2-9. Sessions will be from 6-8 p.m. on both days. The cost is $20. The camp will be taught by the Roscoe football staff. Call Jonathan Haseloff at 766-3844 or 721-7644.
Two Sweetwater High School coaches have been selected for Fellowship of Christian Athletes all-star games in Abilene next month that will involve several Big Country area athletes.
SHS football coach Shane Mobley is an assistant on the North coaching staff at the football game to be played at Shotwell Stadium. SHS volleyball coach Liz Miller will be an assistant for the North coaching staff at the volleyball game to be played at ACUâ€™s Moody Coliseum.
Both games are scheduled for June 8.
A Lady Mustang Bas-ketball Camp will be held June 3-6 at the middle school gym on 305 Lamar Street. The camp is for students who have completed grades 2-8.
The camp sessions will be from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $35 which includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration is appreciated.
A concession stand will be available. The campâ€™s goal is to improve playersâ€™ skills through instruction in individual skills and fun team competitions.
After winning a district co-championship and getting to the regional quarter-finals for only the third time since its baseball program was revived 25 years ago, Sweetwater has left its mark on the District 4-3A team as well. A total of nine players have earned recognition, two receiving top honors.
The Mustangsâ€™ junior first baseman, Greg Aiken, is the Defensive Player of the Year while sophomore pitcher-infielder J.P. Poe is the district Newcomer of the Year.
