Sweetwaterâs four Little League teams continue play this weekend in Abilene at District 5 tournaments being held at various fields.
All four teams saw action Thursday, and Sweetwaterâs Junior League (13-14) all-stars won big (25-4) against Jim Ned in their opening bracket game.
Sweetwaterâs 11-12 year-old all-star team also began bracket play Thursday but lost their game, 14-3, to Abilene Eastern, while results for the Sweetwaterâs 9-10 year-old all-stars faced Snyder in their first bracket game and also lost, 17-11.
Three of the four Sweet-water Little League all-star teams begin bracket play today at District 5 tourna-ments being held at various baseball parks in Abilene, with hopes of faring much better after going a collect-ive 0-6 during pool play.
The 9-10 and 11-12 all-stars completed pool play Wednesday when they lost to Abilene Dixie and Abilene Southern by scores of 15-0 and 13-8, respectively, while the Junior League all-stars finished up pool play Tuesday when they lost to Snyder 20-7.
The following sports camps will be held in Sweetwater this summer:
A Mustang Golf Camp will be held July 16-18 at Sweetwater Country Club for ages 6 and up.
Sessions are from 9-11 a.m. each day. The cost of the camp will be $60 per child, with family discounts available.

A Mustang Football Camp will be held July 22-25 at Mustang Bowl from 7:30-10:30 a.m. daily for students entering grades 3-9.
Sweetwaterâs 10-11 year-olds won their game in dra-matic fashion, but the other three local all-star teams all fell short in District 5 Little League All-Star tournament action on Tuesday.
Snyder led the 10-11 year-olds 1-0 entering the sixth inning, but Sweetwater won it 3-1 on a 3-run, walk-off homer by Rylen Moncada in their first of four District 5 pool play games. Sweetwa-ter plays again Thursday vs. Wylie at 8 p.m. at Wylie.
But Sweetwaterâs 9-10, 11-12 (Little League) and 13-14 (Junior League) all-star teams all went down to defeat Tuesday in their pool play games.
The Sweetwater High School baseball team was recently honored with a resolution by the Sweetwater ISD for making the playoffs. Several members of the team were present at last weekâs school board meeting and were presented individual resolutions.

During the TABC camp, they teamed up with five players from Hereford High School to form âSweet-Herdâ in a tournament where they finished as runnerups after compiling a 9-4 record.
Sweetwater will have four Little League all-star baseball teams competing in District 5 tournaments that begin today and continue through July 5.
Sweetwaterâs 9-10 year-old Little League all-stars are Harrison Foster, Logan Cornutt, Hector Medina, Cooper Hrbacek, Ricky Dela-paz, Jacob Roden, Jonathan Gallegos, Ector Martinez Jr., Braxton Gomez, Ethan Cortez, Skyler Painter and Jacob Cantu. Rodney Foster will serve as manager of the team with Ray Cornutt and Andrew Medina serving as assistant coaches.
