TUESDAY, OCT. 1
Sweetwater varsity plays Monahans at the Bush Tennis Center in Midland starting at 1 p.m.
Sweetwater freshman, JV and varsity teams will host Wylie â freshmen and JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 6 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 2
Sweetwater and Highland runners at Anson meet.
THURSDAY, OCT. 3
Sweetwater 7th and 8th grade teams are idle.
Sweetwater freshman and JV teams are idle.
Roscoe jr high will host Cross Plains, 4 p.m.
For the last two weeks, Sweetwaterâs football team has seen slim first-half leads turn into a double-digit deficits.
For the last two weeks, the Mustangs have also been able to fight back and give themselves a chance to pull out a big win at home.
However, the last two weeks has also seen Sweet-water fall short of that goal.
Now, after losing 35-30 to Brownwood, the Mustangs (2-3) will probably welcome this weekâs open date prior to their District 4-3A opener against Snyder on Oct. 11.
For all the good things Sweetwater did on Friday against Brownwood, there was plenty of bad as well.
Sweetwater got a split decision in sub-varsity high school football action Thursday in Brownwood.
Sweetwater JV 30, Brownwood JV 6
Sweetwater (3-1) scored in all four quarters in its win over Brownwoodâs JV, with five different players finding the end zone.
But quarterback Max Gomez had a hand in three TDs throwing second-half scoring passes of 8 yards to Sean Norman and 43 yards to Michael Green, and scoring on a 22-yard run in the second quarter.
Jacoby Hunt and Adrian Vizzerra had scoring runs of 8 and 4 yards, respectively, for Sweetwater, and also made several big defensive stops.

Nolan Countyâs three high school football teams outside Sweetwater all came up with impressive wins Friday. Roscoe romped past Baird in its District 7-1A, Division II opener, while Blackwell beat a good Blanket squad on the road to remain undefeated and Highland picked up its second straight vict-ory by routing Trent.

ROSCOE â Roscoe also celebrated its homecoming in addition to the 41-point win, which evens the Plow-boysâ season record at 2-2.
Roscoeâs junior varsi-ty routed Cross Plainsâ JV, 38-0, on Thursday.
After a scoreless first quarter, Roscoe (3-1) took a 16-0 lead into the half on two TD passes by Brayden Beal. Beal threw a 2-yard strike to Isaiah Gonzales for the first score and a 17-yard pass to Braiden Moore for the second, and Juan Sanchez ran over a pair of 2-point conversions.
FRIDAY, SEPT. 27
Sweetwater varsity hosts Brownwood, 7:30 p.m.
Roscoe varsity at Baird (district opener and Roscoe Mum Night), 7:30 p.m.
Highland varsity will play at Trent, 7:30 p.m.
Blackwell varsity plays at Blanket, 7:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, SEPT. 28
Sweetwater and Highland runners at Hardin-Simmons meet, Abilene.
Sweetwater varsity will play at Midland Greenwood starting at 9 a.m.
Sweetwater freshman, JV and varsity teams play at Monahans (district openers) starting at noon.
While Sweetwater has one more game plus an open date and Blackwell and Highland are a month away, Roscoe officially begins its âsecond seasonâ today when the Plowboys host Baird in their District 7-1A, Division II opener at 7:30 p.m.
Roscoe went 1-2 in non-district under new coach Jake Freeman, but a win tonight would equal its victory total for all of last year. One of the Plowboysâ two wins a year ago was in their district opener with Baird as Roscoe prevailed 14-0.
Freeman said getting a win tonight is important.
Bryan Vause gets ready to hit a serve for Sweet-water in his recent boys doubles match.
Vause, a senior, not only plays No. 1 doubles but is also the No. 1 boys singles player on the team, which plays again at Midland Green-wood on Saturday.

Sweetwater will begin district play by going to Monahans for its 4-3A opener on Saturday.
