Roscoe wins playoff berth

BRONTE — It was just three years ago that Roscoe’s football team failed to win a game. But after Friday’s convincing 44-20 Plowboys win over Bronte, that seems like a distant memory.
Thanks to Friday’s victo-ry, Roscoe is headed back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010 season.

Blackwell rips Trent to win title

BLACKWELL — They’re back — once again.
Just three years ago, the Blackwell football team was winless on the field and the program’s future was un-clear. But after a 60-6 rout of Trent on Thursday, the Hornets are District 7-1A, Division II champs — it’s their second straight title — and headed to the playoffs for the third year in a row.

Highland defeated by No. 2 Ira

November 7, 2014

IRA — Ira is the champ-ion of District 7-1A, Div. I after a 62-14 win over High-land on Thursday.
Ira (10-0, 3-0) held High-land (4-5, 2-1) to 163 yards and two scores in the regular season-ending game, which ended on the 45-point mer-cy rule with 5:37 left in the third quarter.

Sweetwater freshmen and JV (one combined team) plays at Lamesa, 5 p.m.
Sweetwater 7th grade ‘A’ and eighth grade ‘B’ teams will host Lamesa, 4:30 p.m.
Sweetwater 7th grade ‘B’ and eighth grade ‘A’ teams will host Lamesa, 6 p.m.
Roscoe junior high will host Bronte and Wall starting at 4 p.m.
Roscoe JV hosts Wall after junior high games end.
Highland varsity will play at Ira, 7:30 p.m.
Blackwell varsity will host Trent, 7 p.m.
Sweetwater varsity will host Lamesa, 7:30 p.m.
Roscoe varsity will play at Bronte, 7:30 p.m.

Lamesa is last hurdle to S’water perfection

Thanks to its 44-8 victory over Pecos last week, Sweetwater is the No. 1 seed from District 2-4A, Division II. But the Mustangs want an outright title, and to do that, they still need to beat Lamesa at home on Friday.

Highland shoots for top seed today at Ira

As far as making the playoffs, the suspense is over for Highland and Ira. But tonight’s 7:30 p.m. regular-season finale will decide which of them goes into the postseason as the No. 1 seed and who will be No. 2 out of District 7-1A, Division I.

Roscoe, Blackwell hope to play after this week

Despite losing 33-20 to Menard this past weekend, the Roscoe football team will end its four-year playoff drought with a win over Bronte on Friday.

Dalhart sweeps away S’water in 3

LUBBOCK — A week af-ter ending the regular sea-son with a thrilling, come-from-behind home win over Big Spring, the Sweetwater volleyball team hit the road to face another very talented team in the bi-district round of the Class 4A playoffs.

Highland and Ira have moved their game at Ira for the District 7-1A, Division I title to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Both teams bring 2-0 dis-trict records into the game.

7th graders still looking to get 1st win

Sweetwater’s two seventh grade teams lost at Pecos in football action last week to stay winless this season. Both will host Lamesa on Thursday in their finales.
The seventh grade Red lost to Pecos 42-0, while the seventh grade White team lost its game 36-0.
