A Lady Mustang Basketball Camp will be held June 3-6 at the middle school gym on 305 Lamar Street. The camp is for students who have completed grades 2-8.
The camp sessions will be from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $35 which includes a T-shirt. Pre-registration is appreciated.
A concession stand will be available. The campâs goal is to improve playersâ skills through instruction in individual skills and fun team competitions.

Sweetwater is one of 32 baseball teams who are still alive in the Class 3A high school playoffs. But in order to make it to the Sweet 16, it will have to knock off an Andrews squad that is in the playoffs for the 19th consecutive year.
That equals the number of years that Roland Herrera has been a head baseball coach, the last five of them at Sweetwater. But this is the first time in his tenure with the Mustangs to make it to the postseason.
Sweetwater (19-14) may be a âCinderellaâ team, he admits, but they deserve to be here.
May 16th
The Sweetwater baseball team has played its share of exciting games this season. Four of the Mustangsâ five postseason games â and all four victories â have been decided by two runs or less.
Two of the most drama-tic finishes came in March against Andrews, which will play Sweetwater in a best-of-3 regional quarterfinal starting with Game 1 Friday at Lubbock Christian Uni-versityâs Hays Field. In both cases, the visiting team had a big early lead, only to see the home team rally and pull out a walk-off victory in the final inning.
Blackwell and Highland this week recognized top athletes from the past year.
Highlandâs Lora Stewart and Ron Covington were the recipients of the Fighting Hornet award. Also, Hornet awards for the top girls athlete went to Stewart in cross country, Sierra Allen in basketball and Beth Richburg in track; and for the boys, Michael Hyde in football, Covington in basketball and Sheldon Hall in track.

These seven Sweetwater High School graduating seniors have been chosen to participate in Fellowship of Christian Athletes all-star games after being nominated by their head coaches.

Sweetwater High School and Jared Sliger will present two volleyball camps this summer at the SHS gym.
The high school camp is set for June 10-14 with a cost of $180. Camp times will be 8-11 a.m. and 12:30-2:30 p.m. for the first four days, and 8-11 a.m. on the final day of the camp. The junior high camp is set for June 10-13 with a cost of $90. The camp times will be 3-6 p.m. for all four days.
Also planned is a coaches clinic June 11 from 7-9 p.m. at a cost of $35.
Summer camps at Sweet-water Middle School will be held in both girls basketball and volleyball this summer.
A girls basketball camp for girls currently in grades 2-7 has been set for June 3-6. Camp will be from 9-11:30 a.m. each day.
A girls volleyball camp has also been set for Aug. 5-8, with two sessions. The morning camp will be from 9-11:30 a.m. for girls entering grades 6-8, while the afternoon camp will be from 1-3:30 p.m. for girls entering grades 3-5.

District finishes:
Sweetwater was No. 2 seed in District 4-3A de-spite being co-champion with Wylie; Andrews was the second-place team in District 2-3A.
How they got here:
Sweetwaterâs 8-6 victory over Pampa on Saturday at Lubbock Christian Univer-sity marked a new milestone for the baseball program, and matched another.
The win completed a two-game sweep for the Mustangs (19-14) in the teamsâ best-of-3 area playoff, and advanced them to the regional quarterfinals for only the third time since the program was resumed back in 1988 following a 23-year absence.
This yearâs team, however, is the first to ever win more than one playoff series.
