Mustangs honored with resolution

The 2015 Sweetwater High School baseball team was recently honored by the Sweetwater ISD board of trustees with a resolution that said the Mustangs “brought honor, pride and distinction” to the city and school district while winning district and bi-district championships.

Three teams to start bracket action

Three Sweetwater Little League all-star teams are set to begin double-elimination bracket play at their District 5 tournaments after completing their pool games.

Roscoe wins pool at Clyde but loses semifinal, 41-40

June 24, 2015

CLYDE — Roscoe’s bid for the 7-on-7 Division II football state tournament fell just short with a 41-40 loss to host Clyde in the semifinals this past Saturday.
Roscoe won its pool earlier in the day by defeating Anson 35-22, Merkel 32-6 and Haskell 42-14 before losing to Clyde.

9-10 year-old all-stars

Sweetwater’s 9-10 year-old Little League all-stars will play their first District 5 tournament game at 6 p.m. today in Snyder. Front row from left are T.J. Two Mustang baseball camps were held last week, one for students entering grades 1-5 and the other for those entering grades 6-9. S’water gets No. 9 state rank from TF

A 13-1 record in its first year in Class 4A, Division II signalled the start of a new era for Sweetwater football. In ending a five-year playoff drought, the Mustangs equalled the most wins in school history and won district, bi-district, area and regional titles. And Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine says their fans can expect a repeat in 2015.

Lady Mustang basketball campers

Sweetwater High School girls head basketball coach Rusty Rainbolt, along with assistant SHS coach JoeBob Ussery, led two Lady Mustang basketball camps at the SHS gym this past week. Pictured are girls in the fifth grade and lower who were in the morning camp.
