Lady Mustang co-ed volleyball tourney set

Sweetwater is planning to hold a first-ever Lady Mustang Co-ed Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at both Sweetwater High School gyms. The cost will be $60 per team. The teams will consist of four to six players, with at least two of them playing at all times and a maximum of eight players. All players must be on the roster to be eligible.

Roscoe’s Solis wins 400 dash in JV boys division at Hamlin track meet

Roscoe’s Juan Solis won the junior varsity boys division’s 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.17 at a recent track meet in Hamlin.

Sweetwater-Snyder district opener is moved to Snyder

March 20, 2015

The Sweetwater-Snyder district softball opener scheduled for 5 p.m. today has been moved to Snyder. The varsity game will still be held at 5 p.m., with the JV game to immediately follow. Today's games were originally scheduled to be played in Sweetwater but were moved due to the rainy weather that hit this morning.
Sweetwater is 3-2 for this season after defeating Ballinger, 8-5, Monday on a walk-off three-run homer by Abby Garcia in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Snyder is 10-5 overall and ranked No. 13 in the state, but lost 10-8 Tuesday in eight innings to Lubbock Coronado.

‘Stangs sweep twinbill in final district tuneup

After losing four of five games at Abilene’s three-day tournament and having all its scheduled games this week affected by weather, Sweetwater’s baseball team got good news Thursday.

The Sweetwater High School softball team entertains Snyder in its District 2-4A opener at 5 p.m. today. Sweetwater, Ranger JC reschedule games for 4 p.m. today at Sportsman's Park

The Sweetwater High School baseball team will be playing here at 4 p.m. today against Ranger College's JV in a non-district doubleheader at Sportsman's Park. SHS coach Roland Herrera said the teams moved the games to Sweetwater because Ranger's field was too wet to play on. Today's games will be the last ones for Sweetwater's baseball team before District 2-4A action begins here Tuesday against Levelland.

Regional lifters at Sundown

Four Nolan County high school boys powerlifters competed this past weekend at the Region I powerlifting meet held in Sundown. Junior Lawhon (198-pound class) and Raymond Delgado and Dylan Jimenez (220-pound class) all competed for Sweetwater in the Division 2 portion of the meet held on Friday, and Ryland Madrid (198-pound class) competed Saturday for Roscoe in the Division 3 meet.
