After a wait of 15 years â€” plus a 1 1/2-week break since ending its regular season â€” Sweetwaterâ€™s softball team returns to the playoffs when it plays Iowa Park in a Class 3A bi-district matchup at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The winner of the one-game playoff in Graham will face Burleson Centennial in the area round next week. Sweetwater, which is mak-ing only its third postseas-on appearance in school history and first since 1997, comes in with a 15-11 record and finished third in District 5-3A with a 4-4 record.

Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s 800-meter boys relay ran a season-best time of 1:33.3 for a sixth-place finish at a regional qualifiers meet held April 19 in Brownwood.
Kaleb Hoover, Ryan Linebaugh, Nick Nemir and Sam Nemir were the runners on the relay, which will be in Lubbock starting Friday at the Region I-3A track meet. Nick Nemir will also be competing in the 100-meter run and 300-meter hurdles.
The Sweetwater High School softball teamâ€™s first playoff game in 15 years has been moved up a couple of days.
Its one-game, Class 3A bi-district playoff con-test with Iowa Park will now be played Saturday, April 28 in Graham start-ing at 7:30 p.m. It had originally been set Mon-day, April 30 in Graham.
Sweetwater, which has a 14-9 season record, was the third-place team in District 5-3A with a 4-4 record while Iowa Park was the No. 2 team in District 6-3A.
This is just the third time Sweetwater has made the softball playoffs since it became a UIL sport here.
