A 14-0 victory over Baird this past week did more than just end a long Roscoe losing streak that stretched back to the end of the 2010 season. It also put the Plowboys (1-3 overall) in the top half of the District 7-1A, Division II standings.
Now that Roscoe has finally tasted success, coach Jonathan Haseloffâs team hopes to build on it and gets to do so tonight when it hosts Cross Plains (1-0, 2-2). The Buffaloes are also coming off a win after their 26-0 victory over Gorman last Friday.
Itâs been awhile since the Sweetwater High School tennis team has seen action due in part to the weather. But if Mother Nature permits, the team is scheduled to play at a two-day tournament in Andrews today and Saturday.
Sweetwater last played on Sept. 25 at Abilene Cooper, and played it close only to lose 11-8. Results follow:
Girls doubles â Jenny Medellin and Kristen Casto won 8-5; Gewel Cherry and Teresa Perez-Poe won 8-6; Vida Gamez and Ashley Heaton won 8-0.
