After a gutwrenching loss to Monahans this past week, Sweetwater’s football team must have two things happen Friday in order to get into the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
First, Sweetwater must defeat Wylie, which not only has clinched a playoff spot but is the No. 2-ranked team in the state with a 9-0 record and is 4-0 in district play. Also, Sweetwater must hope that Snyder (1-3, 3-6) beats Greenwood (2-2, 6-3) which would make Sweet-water the district’s No. 3 team with a 3-2 record.
Highland has decided to play its 2012 season finale one day early.
The Hornets (0-2, 5-4) were to host Hermleigh — which is also 0-2 in district and 2-7 in district — at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
However, the schools decided earlier this week to move the game up to today at the same time, and also play in Hermleigh. The Highland-Hermleigh jun-ior high game will also be played at 5:30 p.m.
