Sweetwaterâ€™s sub-varsity boys basketball teams split their two games at Wall that were played on Tuesday.
The JV boys fell to Wall 60-24 to remain winless at 0-3, but the freshman boys won 44-18 in their season opener.
Marquees Jenkins scored 13 points, Johnathan Brow-ning six, Jack Poe three and Michael McCoy and Matthew Trevino one each for the JV boys while for the Sweetwater freshman boys, Denzell Moore poured in 12 points, Isaiah Gonzales seven, Colton Jackson and Michael Lawrence six, Joe Ruiz and Jâ€™Corey Amos five and Alontae Heath three.

Sweetwater teams had a perfect first day of basket-ball competition Thursday at their respective tourna-ments played in Ballinger.
Sweetwaterâ€™s boys (2-1) beat Hawley 43-29 as they advanced into todayâ€™s 7:30 p.m. semifinal against host team Ballinger. Todayâ€™s winner will play for the championship against either Jim Ned or Clyde at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Isaiah McGee led Sweetwater with 10 points. Quentin Wetsel added nine, Rhett Torres seven, Dylan Bennett six, Cole Maxwell four, Deandre Gatson three and Michael Hunt and Tre Taylor two. Sweetwater was up by 22, 28-6, at halftime.

Several Highland players earned recognition on the all-District 7, Division I football team that was an-nounced recently.
Running back Michael Hyde, special teams player Ron Covington and defensive lineman Shelby Howard made the first team. In addition, six players earned second team honors and five players were given all-district honorable mention.
Hyde (linebacker, kicker), Covington (utility player) and Howard (fullback) also made the second team as did Garrett Stewart at tight end, Ethan Wilson at spread back and safety and Gaga Soedarsono at wide receiver and defensive lineman.
The Roscoe girls basket-ball team lost at Hawley, 48-46, on Tuesday.
The contest was tied up 31-31 after three quarters, but Hawley outscored the Plowgirls 17-15 in the final period. Roscoe (4-2) was paced by Mirian Solisâ€™ 11 points while Faith Boren and Carolina Perez had nine points apiece.
The Sweetwater girls basketball team got its season back on track Tuesday, and also finally picked up a win at home as the Lady Mustangs crushed Abernathy 45-26.
Abernathy led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter when one of its players hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer just past the midcourt line. But Sweetwater (4-2) â€” which had lost to Abilene High (42-48) and Early (35-54) at Mustang Gym following a 3-0 start â€” dominated the last three quarters.
The Roscoe boys basket-ball team began its 2012-13 season with a 60-24 loss at Hawley on Tuesday.
Javier Leanos paced Roscoe with 12 points. Brant Burnett had three points, Esteban Benivamondez, Dillon Freeman, Luke Rov-ig and Shelton Toliver two and Cutter Davila one. The girlsâ€™ game with Hawley was not available at press time.
The Highland girls basketball team went to a neutral site â€” Water Valley â€” for a 61-30 win over McCamey on Monday.
Shaneese Brown had 19 points and five other play-ers scored as the Sweetwat-er JV girls basketball team improved to 10-0 by defeat-ing the Abernathy JV girls, 40-28, here Tuesday.
Trailing 9-6 at the end of the first quarter, Sweetwater outscored Abernathy 34-19 the rest of the way. Abby McPherson and Cierra Knox each had six points while Morgan Whitley had four, Maddie Jones three and Bianca Castillo two for Sweetwater.
