Basketball
Sweetwater varsity girls will play at Wichita Falls Hirschi: JV at 5 p.m., varsity at 6:30 p.m.
Roscoe JV and varsity girls will host Colorado City starting at 5:30 p.m.
Highland JV and varsity girls play at Clyde starting at 5 p.m.
Blackwell varsity girls will host Rotan (season opener), 6 p.m.
THURSDAY, NOV. 20
Basketball
Sweetwater freshman girls will play at Clyde tournament.
Roscoe varsity girls will play at Lueders-Avoca tournament.
Roscoe JV girls will play at Cross Plains tournament.

Lady Hornets jump to No. 1 in Class 1A

After being ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll, the Highland girls basketball team jumped up all the way to No. 1 in Class 1A in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ first regular season poll that was released on Monday.

Playoffs delaying basketball for SW, area boys teams

Having all four area high school football teams in the playoffs this past weekend means the boys basketball season will be delayed for most of Nolan County.

S’water girls lose game at S-Angelo L’View

November 17, 2014

Sweetwater traveled to San Angelo Lake View for a non-district girls basketball game Saturday and lost to the Maidens, 70-33, as their record fell to 0-2.

Roscoe junior high boys will host Winters starting at 5 p.m.
Roscoe junior high girls at Winters starting at 5 p.m.
Highland junior high teams will host Borden County (season openers) starting at 6 p.m.
Blackwell junior high teams at Bronte (season openers) starting at 6 p.m.

Sweetwater boys will host Early (season openers for both teams): freshmen at 4:30 p.m., JV at 6 p.m., varsity at 7:30 p.m.

Blackwell beats RS for 6th win in a row

TRENT — The Blackwell Hornets have gotten hot at the right time.
Friday’s 52-6 Class 1A, Division II bi-district win over the Rising Star Wild-cats was the sixth in a row for Blackwell (7-3), which will face Sands in the area round.

Highland is shut out by No. 1 in state

ANSON — No. 1 Crowell is off to a good start in the Class 1A, Division II foot-ball playoffs.
The Wildcats (10-0) — who are in their third year of direction under former Blackwell athlete and coach Nathan Hayes — began defense of their Division I six-man title on Friday with a 60-0 bi-district win over Highland.

Mustangs trample Perryton, 50-13

CANYON — Sweetwater’s football team was seriously tested on Thursday for the first time since it defeated Monahans three weeks ago to clinch a playoff berth.
The Mustangs trailed in a game Thursday for the first time since that 63-34 win, as Perryton led 7-0 in the opening minutes.
