Jo Ann Grace, 62, of San Angelo, passed away on Saturday, June 21 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Grace was born October 25, 1951 in Duncan, OK.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/Knickerbocker. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

All-Big Country

Six Sweetwater High School athletes — three seniors and three juniors — earned All-Big Country baseball recognition Sunday from the Abilene Reporter-News.
Senior first baseman Greg Aiken was named to the starting infield after a season in which he hit .443 with 12 doubles, three triples and 34 RBIs in 77 at-bats, along with a .990 fielding percentage. Aiken, a four-year starter, was also named District 4-3A MVP.

Roscoe Collegiate has elementary basketball camp

A basketball camp was held at Roscoe Collegiate High School last week for boys and girls entering grades 1-5 next year.

Fatal wreck on Newman Street

One person was killed in a one vehicle accident just after 10 p.m. on Monday evening on the 800 block of Newman Street in Sweetwater according to Sweetwater emergency authorities.
The driver of the Ford Ranger was headed south on Newman Street when he drove off of a bridge and the vehicle rolled. No one else was in the vehicle and it appears that the driver was not wearing a safety belt.

Swing for the Cures raises over $11K

On Saturday, June 21, the Sweetwater Country Club hosted the Second Annual "Swing for the Cures" golf tournament that benefits breast cancer and ovarian cancer research. Around $11,500 was raised at the event to benefit the cause.

USDA FSA authorizes emergency grazing of CRP acres for Nolan County

Memorial services for Billy Jay Brice, 85, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Sweetwater, with Sam Smith officiating.
Brice died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab in Sweetwater.
He was born January 24, 1929 in Wingate, Texas.

Cody Clark, of Sweetwater and Abilene, left this world for a heavenly one, Monday, June 23, 2014, in Sweetwater, Texas. He was born December 31, 1980, in Sweetwater and was born again and baptized into God’s family in his twenties.
He graduated from Sweetwater High School and was self-employed. He was known for his sense of humor and concern for the underdog.

Max D. Hutchins 74, loving husband, father, greatly adored “Papa” and servant of Jesus Christ, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Kelview Heights Baptist Church, 402 W. Scharbauer in Midland. A private family graveside will be held at the Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Max was born August 2, 1939, in Breckenridge to J.B. And Leona Hutchins. He married Joann Land on April 22, 1957, in Midland.
