The Sweetwater Fastpitch Softball Association plans to have additional signups for the 2015 season this week for girls 5-14 years of age.
The signups will be held from 6-8 p.m. on both Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Friday, Feb. 13 at the Fourth and Elm Street Church of Christ warehouse. Please bring a copy of your daughterâs birth certificate. Girls must be five years old by Jan. 1, 2015. The cost is $75 per child. No late signups.
Persons are also asked to bring used gloves, bats, helmets, cleats, pants and belts for an equipment swap.
The opening ceremonies for all Sweetwater Minor League (ages 9-10 as of April 1) and Major League (ages 11-12 as of April 1) baseball players will be Saturday, Feb. 28. Opening ceremonies for all T-Ball (ages 4-6 as of Jan. 1) and Farm League (ages 7-8 as of Jan. 1) players will be held Saturday, March 7.

Sweetwater High Schoolâs Football Awards Banquet is set for Monday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the âCenterâ at Texas State Technical College.
Tickets for $12 each will be available at the SHS fieldhouse until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18. Meal tickets will not be sold at the door.

The Arizona Wildcats traveled to Tempe to face in state rival Arizona State for what they expected to be an easy game. Arizona State came into the game at the bottom of the PAC 12 at 3-6 in conference play. The Sun Devils came out firing as they shot 50% from the field (26/52) and 46.7% from 3 (7/15). Guard Bo Barnes paced the Sun Devils with 18 points including a perfect 8 for 8 from the charity stripe.

Forty-two Sweetwater High School students made the A-Honor Roll in the third six weeks of the 2014-2015 school year and Texas National Bank continued with its commitment to recognize and award one lucky scholar from each grade with $50.

Sweetwater High School Seniors Mark Ruiz and Bray Amos were recipients of the Panhandle Plains Higher Education Authority Scholarship. They will each receive $100.
Highland is sending two teams to the playoffs after its boys team qualified by beating Hermleigh, 60-21, on Friday. Four players hit double figures as the Hor-nets improved to 5-2 in Dis-trict 12-1A and clinched no worse than the No. 3 spot.
