SW wins 3 in one day

While the weather forced them to wait two extra days to begin play at their annual Wes Bishop Wood Bat Clas-sic, Saturday paid off big for Sweetwater’s baseball team. Playing Pampa, Ballinger and San Angelo Lake View in one day at their event — over a 10-hour period — was by far the most game action the team had seen in a nearly two-week period since its scheduled opener.

Sweetwater reached the finals of Big Spring’s softball tournament before los-ing to Abilene Wylie, 9-6, in Saturday’s Silver Bracket championship game.

Today, a 70% showers will be likely, with cloudy skies and a high near 52. Winds will be from the north-northeast at 5 to 10 mph.
Those rain chances will decrease to 30 percent tonight, with mostly cloudy conditions and a low around 44. Winds from the north-northeast at 5 to 10 mph will shift to the northwest after midnight.

Roosters recall Round-Up history

A lot of rattlesnakes have been captured, sold, killed and processed during the 57-year history of the Sweetwater Jaycees' World's Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up.
And the older, wiser Jaycees — known within the organization as Roosters — believe that the tradition the civic group started will keep going strong after they're long gone.
