Applause music series wraps up season with ‘Música Latina’ May 9

The Applause Music Series is ending their inaugural concert season with a celebration of Hispanic culture – days following Cinco de Mayo. “Música Latina” is a one-night only event that will take place on May 9, at the Sweetwater Municipal Auditorium, featuring Angelique, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos and Grammy Award-winning recording artists Los Texmaniacs.

Ribbon cutting ceremony celebrates grand reopening of Sears Hometown Store

Members of the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to kick off the grand reopening celebration of the Sears Hometown Store in Sweetwater recently. The store now includes a new product assortment, redesigned merchandising, new fixtures and signage and comprehensive employee training, among other changes. Owner Pete Porter in shown cutting the ceremonial ribbon at Friday's event.

Mustangs edge Tigers, claim share of 2-4A title

It wasn’t easy, but after a 4-3 win over Snyder here Tuesday, Sweetwater is the District 2-4A co-champion.
And while not as good as winning an outright title, the result left the Mustangs feeling good in many ways. They defeated a big rival Tuesday to end the regular season, are in the playoffs for the third consecutive year and start the postseason on a positive note thanks to some clutch play at Sportsman’s Park.

Lady Mustangs rip Merkel

Sweetwater tuned up for its bi-district playoff series later this week by crushing Merkel, 11-0, in a warm-up game Tuesday at the Jerry Collins Softball Complex that lasted just six innings due to the 10-run rule.

SNAP seeks rummage sale donations

Senior Nutrition Activities Program (SNAP) Director, Tonya Challis, is preparing for her department's final major fundraiser of the year.
In addition to the Taste of Sweetwater and charging for Rattlesnake Round-Up parking, SNAP holds an annual rummage sale at its 1701 Elm Street location, with this year's sale slated for June 6.

4-H students show appreciation to supporters during Clover Campaign

Nolan County 4-Hers served sweet tea and lemonade to show their appreciation to the people who supported the 4-H program Saturday morning at Tractor Supply Company in Sweetwater. “Nolan County 4-H greatly appreciates the partnership with the Tractor Supply Company. "We are so thankful for the support of the Nolan County residents who have been and will be contributing to the Tractor Supply Clover Campaign which will run through May 3 at Tractor Supply,” said Nolan County Family and Consumer Sciences County Extension Agent Labeth Carter.
