The Sweetwater Jaycees, Sweetwater Independent School District and Region 14 Education Service Center presented a multi-region video conference program focused on rattlesnakes recently.

Roosters recall Round-Up history

A lot of rattlesnakes have been captured, sold, killed and processed during the 57-year history of the Sweetwater Jaycees' World's Largest Rattlesnake Round-Up.
And the older, wiser Jaycees — known within the organization as Roosters — believe that the tradition the civic group started will keep going strong after they're long gone.

Firefighters respond to another vehicle blaze

March 6, 2015

The Sweetwater Fire Department responded to a third vehicle fire in one week on Thursday afternoon around 1:35 p.m. First responders were called to mile marker 248 east bound on Interstate 20.

Jerry Hendrix joins FBC staff

“God is moving and I am excited to be a part of the journey at First Baptist Church,” says Jerry Hendrix, the new pastor at First Baptist Church. Jerry and his wife, Sharon, are moving to the community from Abilene. Hendrix’s journey is a mosaic of experiences that includes Senior Pastor, Youth Minister, and even owner of Monks Coffee Shop in Downtown Abilene.
