Tuesday was a good day for Sweetwaterâ€™s baseball and softball teams. The Mustangs opened district by crushing Levelland 10-3, while the Lady Mustangs overcame a 7-1 deficit to rout Levelland 20-9 in five innings and improve their district mark to 1-1 and stay within a game of first place.

Results from Sweetwater Middle School track teams at Merkelâ€™s Run & Gun meet Tuesday are listed. These athletes go to Colorado Cityâ€™s meet this Tuesday, then end their season with the district meet at Snyder which will be held on April 9.

When Alicia Vasquez found out her kidneys were failing, it could have been a death sentence.

Atmos Energy crews and contractors will oversee controlled natural gas flarings during the week of March 24-April 1, 2015, at various times on the property of Buzzi Unicem USAâ€™s Maryneal plant. The company will be performing maintenance on a section of natural gas pipeline in the area as part of normal, routine maintenance operations.

Sweetwaterâ€™s No. 1 and No. 2 girls golf teams rank second and third, respec-tively, in the standings after going to Snyderâ€™s Sammy Baugh WTC course Tuesday for the opening leg of the District 2-4A tournament.
Sweetwater I shot 379 and trails first-place Snyder by 48 shots, while Sweetwater II is next with a 422 total, seven ahead of Levelland.
