Every day, millions of physicians care for patients in hospitals and other medical facilities. Doctors see us not only when we are well, but also when we are sick or injured. Join Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) on March 30 to celebrate physicians in the community, and across the nation, as part of National Doctor’s Day.

A weekend filled with music in Nolan County

The legendary Merle Haggard and his band The Strangers performed for a large audience on Sunday evening at The Lumberyard in Roscoe. His performance was part of Roscoe’s Spring celebration — Spring Super Sunday.

SW teams stay on roll by winning at Lamesa

March 28, 2015

LAMESA — Sweetwater’s baseball and softball teams won for the second straight time in District 2-4A play on Friday, both defeating Lamesa on the road.

The baseball team is in a three-way tie for first place with Big Spring and Snyder at 2-0 after Friday’s thumping of Lamesa. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Garcia is winner at Cisco meet

March 28, 2015

Abby Garcia placed first for Sweetwater in the girls long jump Thursday with a leap of 14-8 3/4 at Cisco’s track meet. She also placed second in the high jump (4-8) and anchored the 400 relay to a fourth-place finish with a time of 53.19 seconds. Danni Vega, Nisha Williams and Morgan Gomez also ran on the relay.

Local churches combine for Easter cantata

Sunday, March 29 marks Palm Sunday, in which Christians across the globe celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus in Jerusalem as the beginning of the Holy Week leading up to Easter Sunday.
Locally, several churches are commemorating the day with the first of two performances of the Easter cantata, “A.D.: A Musical for Easter and Beyond.” It will be performed at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, located at 309 Cedar in Sweetwater.

Rainbolt is coming home as SHS girls athletic coordinator

Rusty Rainbolt officially returns this week to the place he graduated from nearly 15 years ago.
This time, he will be coming back to Sweetwater High School in a much different role — as its girls athletic coordinator, as well as the new SHS head girls basketball coach.

Entry and parking changes being made at RPMH

March 28, 2015

Effective Wednesday, April 1, 2015, the main entrance to the hospital on Arizona Street will be closed due to construction. This closure includes the visitor parking off of Arizona Street. Visitor parking has been relocated to the administration parking area off of Arizona Street and to the Emergency Department parking area off of Jenny George Lane.
