AUSTIN â The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase DWI patrols for a 12-day period that includes the July 4th holiday. From June 26 â July 7, DPS troopers will focus DWI patrols in high-risk locations at times when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent.

Twenty girls participated this past week in a Lady Mustang Softball Camp held at the Jerry Collins Complex. Several campers are shown in no particular order including Bella Jones, Stormy Jones, Ellie Espinoza, Carson Gibson, Makenna Rhodes, Larissa Garcia, Kayme Elrod, Arianna Garza, Teagan Woosley, Avery Scott, Kara Gomez, Kyra Gomez, Amariz Rosas, Rebecca Pena, Phoenix Walker, Alyssa Gomez, Alexis Gonzales, Kallie Gonzales and Kaidy Ornelas.

The Mustang Football Camp will be July 21-23 at Mustang Bowl from 8-11 a.m. for students entering grades 3-9. The cost is $30. All campers will receive individual instruction from members of the Mustang coaching staff. The camp will emphasize skills and drills and will also have both punt, pass and kick instruction and competitions. There will also be refreshments, T-shirts and certificates. The 2015 Sweetwater High School softball team was recently honored by Sweetwater ISD trustees with a resolution at their meeting. The resolution said the Lady Mustangs "have brought honor, pride, and distinction" to both the city and the Sweetwater ISD during the past season and "have excelled in performance" by winning the bi-district championship and "competing admirably" in the area playoffs against Fort Stockton. Country music won't be the only genre highlighted when Thompson Square takes the stage at the 2015 Nolan County Fair, scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at the Nolan County Coliseum. One of the opening acts will be Denton-based alternative rock band LoveSick Mary.
LoveSick Mary came together in 2010 under the common desire to bring rock-n-roll back to the masses one memorable show at a time. The Denton, TX based band is often described as â...if Heart and Foo Fighters had a baby, it would be LoveSick Maryâ.

Representatives from Congressman Randy Neugebauer's office were at the Nolan County Courthouse on Friday for "Mobile Congressional Office Hours", where constituents within District 19 can meet with the Congressman's staff to discuss their concerns within the district as well as at the federal level. For six years now, Johnnye Lu Gibson, director of Walking Women of Fisher County, has held a benefit dance with all proceeds going towards Alzheimer's. After seeing her father suffer from Alzheimer's and pass in 2007, it was more than evident why she began this fundraiser and continues to do so.
Best friend to Johnnye Lu, Georgia McGough, co-coordinator, said "You just have to keep a sense of humor and laugh. We think of all the memories and have to laugh because of the silly things he (Johnnye's dad) used to say."
