American Pickers to film in Sweetwater

March 25, 2015

“Sweetwater is excited to welcome Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and Antique Archeology to the area,” stated an e-mail from the Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce. The team will film episodes of their hit series ‘American Pickers’ throughout Western Texas. Filming is scheduled to begin next month.

Sweetwater's Michael Lawrence rounds third base to score in the first inning of the Mustangs' District 2-4A baseball opener at Sportsman's Park on Tuesday against Levelland. Lawrence had three hits, including a pair of doubles, in a 10-3 win over the Lobos.

SW hits 4 HRs to crush L’land

After a rough start that saw it fall behind 7-1 after just 1 1/2 innings, the Sweetwater softball team produced runs here Tuesday at a furious pace — with the help of four home runs — the rest of the way to claim a 20-9 win over Levelland in five innings and its first win in district play.

Down 1-0 before coming to bat, Sweetwater roared back to beat Levelland 10-3 in its District 2-4A baseball opener here Tuesday.

Local travel team brings home championship

Sweetwater's "Storm," an eighth grade travel basketball team, brought home the Championship this weekend after a tournament in Colorado City. Storm is a local youth sports travel team, founded by Anthony Knox.
