Donation made to local Feed Our Kids program

The Sweetwater Reporter is just one of several donation drop-off stations for the program, which provides local school-age children with a nutritious midday meal during the summer months.

Oak Creek Lake lots, vacant land presented at city commission meeting

At Tuesday's meeting of the Sweetwater City Commission, several lots and land at Oak Creek Lake were presented to commissioners to determine steps of action toward the properties.

Four Mustangs are chosen for GWTBCA all-star game in Frenship

Four recently-graduated Sweetwater baseball players have been selected for a Class 4A/TAPPS all-star game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Frenship High School in Wolfforth — the first of three games held Saturday by the Greater West Texas Baseball Coaches Associa-tion. A Class 5A-6A game will begin at 4:30 p.m., fol-lowed by a 2A-3A game at 7:30 p.m.

Today will be partly sunny with a high near 92. Winds will be from the south-southeast around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. And after 2 p.m., we'll have a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Expect mostly cloudy skies tonight, with a low around 73 and breezy winds from the south-southeast at 15 to 20 mph. After 8 p.m., a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms will enter the area.
Rain chances will remain in the forecast throughout the entire weekend, with highs in the low 90s and lows in the lower 70s. Breezy winds will be in the area on Saturday as well as Sunday.

Two graduate from fire academy training division

Jordan Dickison and Kody Dakan with the Sweetwater Fire Department graduated from the training division of the fire academy on Thursday, June 4. They are one step closer to being fully certified firefighters and EMTs. They are shown with Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden (center).

SEED, city approve incentive agreement

Following their respective meeting held this week, the SEED (Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development) board of directions and the Sweetwater City Commission gave approval toward an incentive agreement between SEED and The Blinged Goose, LLC.

Kyler Jennings wins KXOX Country Showdown

The 34th Annual Country Showdown local competition concluded this past Saturday, June 6, naming Kyler Jennings as the winner. This win marks completion of the first step in the prestigious national contest.

SW headed back to state in 7-on-7

For the second consecu-tive year, Sweetwater has qualified for the 7-on-7 Division II football state tournament next month in College Station. Sweetwa-ter qualified by winning a qualifying event in Brock this past Saturday.
