Former Jump Rope Team alum Willie Amos recently visited this yearâs SIS Jump Rope Team.
Amos displayed his skills and also gave tips and tricks to current members of the Jump Rope Team.
A meeting was held on Thursday evening bringing the Sweetwater Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses together in an effort to stop the proposed state law change by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regarding the use of noxious substances to collect non-game wildlife, which includes the gassing of rattlesnakes.
The Nolan County Commissioners held a public hearing on Thursday morning in regards to a possible county project to obtain a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to alleviate degradation caused to public roads, bridges and culverts by the exploration, development or production of oil and gas.

Coach Al Hunt and his players may not like to talk about it, but the Sweetwater boys basketball team is off to one of the best starts in school history.
Although the calendar is already 10 days into the new year and the district season begins tonight, the Mustangs (11-0) have yet to lose. But Sweetwater will have its hands full when it travels to Monahans for its District 4-3A opener that tips off at 7:30 p.m.
The Loboes are almost as hot as Sweetwater, as they boast an 18-3 record.
Nine Sweetwater football players have received Class 3A All-Big Country recognition by the Abilene Reporter-News.
Two players, junior wide receiver Bray Amos and senior defensive lineman Daven Alvarez, made the first team and two others, Kaleb Hoover and Andrew Davis, are on the second team. Hoover, a senior, was named at wide receiver and defensive back and Davis, also a senior, was chosen on the offensive line.
Sweetwater High Schoolâs powerlifters go to Post for their first 2014 meet on Sat-urday. The boys and girls have also have four other qualifying meets on their schedule â on Jan. 16 at Big Spring, Jan. 31 at Abilene Cooper, Feb. 6 at Clyde and on Feb. 13 when they host their own meet.
Girls regional qualifiers go to Fort Stockton for their meet on March 1, while the boys regional qualifiers will go to Sundown for their meet on March 7.
This yearâs state meets are scheduled for March 14 at Corpus Christi (girls) and on March 22 at Abilene (boys).
