A grass fire started on Wednesday afternoon where a vehicle had wrecked a little bit earlier on County Road 143 near the intersection of County Road 144 in Nolan County. It burned right around 20 acres of densely wooded area.Â
According to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden, the terrain was very tough and the undergrowth was thick. Maryneal, Roscoe, Nolan and Sweetwater all had trucks on scene trying to contain the blaze. There were three power line poles that burned and dropped the lines down into the trees which made things more difficult and dangerous for the firemen on scene.Â
