Polly Wright, 78, passed away April 14, 2013 in Tulsa, Okla. Funeral services for Polly will be Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Broadway Baptist Church in Sweetwater, with Pastor Wayne Taylor officiating and assisting will be Pastor Chris Stephens and Pastor James Baker. Interment will follow services at Sweetwater Cemetery. Family visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Bill Kennedy died peacefully in his sleep, Monday, April 15, at his home in Sweetwater after a short illness. Bill was 88 years old.
GRANBURY â€” Melissa Haygood Jacks, 56, of Granbury, passed from this life to her great reward in Heaven, on April 14, 2013 in her home in Granbury, surrounded by her family.
Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Stonewater Church in Granbury.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Deleon Cemetery in Deleon, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to fund mission trips with Stonewater Church of Granbury.
Blackwell High School will host an area track meet for both District 13-1A and 14-1A Wednesday.
Blackwell competes in District 14-1A while Roscoe and Highland are both in District 13-1A. The top four finishers in each event at last weekâ€™s district meets advanced to the area meet, where the top four finishers in each event Wednesday will advance to the Region II-1A, Division II meet to be held April 26-27 at Angelo State University.

Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s baseball team last made the playoffs in 2004. With a win tonight at Monahans â€” or a Snyder loss to district co-leader Wylie â€” the Mus-tangs will clinch a berth.
Sweetwater (6-1 district, 14-11 overall) is currently tied with Wylie for the district lead with three games left. The Mustangs have won their last three contests heading into todayâ€™s game at Monahans (1-6) since losing to Wylie on March 28, and also won its first game with Monahans 11-1 on March 26 in Sweetwater. Wylie and Sweetwater are two games ahead of Big Spring (4-3), with Snyder sitting at 3-4.
Sweetwater High Schoolâ€™s junior varsity boys track team scored 145 points at last weekâ€™s district meet to finish just two points out of first place. Individual winners were Deshaun Williams in the long jump, Marquees Jenkins in the 200, Mark Lawrence in the 800, Max Nemir in the 300 hurdles and Kaegan Jeffrey in the discus. Lawrence, Nemir, Jenkins and Max Gomez ran on the first-place 400 relay and Williams, Jenkins, Gomez and Austin Kamer on the 800 relay, while Jenkins, Gomez, Williams and Nemir were on the 400 relay that placed second.
Sweetwater High School will be sending several athletes to Pecos this Friday for the area track meet, with the top four in each event advancing to the regional meet in Lubbock.
Sweetwater senior Nick Nemir will be in four events â€” the long jump, 110-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles and the 400-meter relay.
Nemir was third in the first three events at the district meet and the relay he ran on placed fourth. A story in last Fridayâ€™s paper incorrectly said that Nemir placed fifth in the long jump and would not advance to the area meet in that event.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 157 calls for service, issued 10 citations and made 10 arrests from April 12-14, 2013.
The SPD received 116, 911 calls.

Sweetwater Animal Control currently has several dogs available for adoption.
Available for adoption are a female boxer mix puppy, female bull terrier mix, female collie mix, female mixed breed, female terrier mix, male chihuahua and a male mixed breed dog.
According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
Two people have recently pled guilty during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings.
Jamie Yeazel aka Jamie O'Connor pled guilty to tampering with government records, a state jail felony. Yeazel was sentenced to five years of community supervision and will have to pay a $750 fine, $343 in court costs, $500 in attorney's fees and $5,336 in restitution to Texas Health and Human Services. Yeazel will also have to serve 120 hours of community service.
