Enrollment numbers across SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District) were highlighted as part of the Superintendentâs Report given at Thursdayâs meeting of the SISD Board of Trustees.
Sweetwater ISD accounts for 21 of the 62 total students at Wallace Accelerated High School. Of that total, 11 students are classified as âcompleters;â eight of the 11 students are now considered graduates.
Authorities Monday confirmed the discovery of remains found in the back yard of a home in Sweetwater. The bones were found by a homeowner who was tearing up the floor to replace it with a new one.
Josh Valdez was helping his father last week when they discovered bones. He says when they found one they dug around and looked for others. He said that his mother took the bones to the school to show the school nurse, who then told her to contact the police.
After almost a month of gathering and conducting research, the Nolan County Commissioners awarded bids to several items during their Monday morning meeting at the county courthouse.
Nolan County precincts will be obtaining their AC5 paving materials from the Valero company, following approval from the commissioners. While they did not offer a bid, the company gave the option of selling on a daily rack basis for $570 per ton.
A proposed pipeline right-of-way project was approved by the Sweetwater ISD (Independent School District) Board of Trustees during their Thursday night meeting.
Making the presentation was SISD business manager Nathan Ehlert, noting that the pipeline would run from Colorado City all the way to Houston and is located north of an already-existing line.
The line, which is fifty feet wide, would run through a delinquent tax lot of about seventeen acres. Of that amount, about three acres would be impacted by roughly 1.6 acres of the permanent right-of-way line.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 152 calls for service, issued three citations and made 12 arrests from Mar. 22-24, 2013.

Dr. Bud E. Alldredge, 92, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center in Sweetwater.
There will be a family visitation Friday evening, March 29, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 401 East Third Street in Sweetwater.
A 9:30 a.m. graveside service will be held at Sweetwater Cemetery on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. the same day at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Kary Fry officiating. Interment will be in Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Sweetwater High Schoolâs baseball and softball teams, who are off to a combined 4-1 start, resume District 4-3A action when they host Monahans today.
The 2-1 Lady Mustangs play at 5 p.m. against Mona-hans (1-2) at Jerry Collins Complex. Meanwhile, the 2-0 Mustang baseball team begins its game at 7 p.m. at Sportsmanâs Park (inside Newman Park) against an 0-2 Monahans team.
The Lady Mustangs won 6-5 at Big Spring last Frid-ay to stay in a second-place tie with Snyder, one game behind district-leading Mid-land Greenwood.
ABILENE â Donald Baker, a senior at Sweet-water High School, lifted a total of 1,120 pounds for a 10th-place Division II finish Saturday when he competed at the Texas High School Powerlifting Associationâs state meet held in Abilene.
Baker, competing in the 148-pound weight class, had a 440-pound squat, 245-pound bench press and 435-pound dead lift while making his first trip to state after a second-place regional finish.
The Sweetwater High School tennis team recent-ly played at a one-day tour-nament in Monahans.
Sweetwaterâs top indivi-dual performances were by Kristen Casto, who was fourth in girls singles, and by Stephen Shipp, who won consolation in boys singles. Also, the mixed doubles team of Teresa Perez-Poe and Keygan Valdez placed fourth at the tournament.
