Sweetwater’s Sam Nemir and Ryan Linebaugh finished in 10th and 11th place, respectively, among Class 3A lifters in the 165-pound weight class at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Division II meet that was held on Saturday in Abilene.
Sweetwater High School’s girls golf team is in second place after hosting the first round of the district golf tournament on Tuesday at Sweetwater Country Club, although no Lady Mustang is currently among the top five medalists.
Sweetwater shot 370 as a team to outdistance everyone except Snyder, which shot 341 to take a 29-stroke lead in the 54-hole event, which resumes next Monday at Wylie.
Sarah Witt had Sweetwa-ter’s best individual round. Witt carded a 90, putting her in a tie for sixth place and nine out of the lead.
EARLY — Sweetwater’s Jayci Shelton won three events to pace the Lady Mustangs to a third-place finish at Early’s track meet this past Saturday.

A few months ago, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office and the 32nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office conducted a raid of a residence addressed as 1110 Runnels Street in Sweetwater. Numerous arrests were made as a result of an investigation that lasted several months. This address was very well known in Sweetwater and Nolan County for the large amount of drug trafficking (primarily crack cocaine) that took place at this house. As a result, the house was seized and subsequently forfeited in 32nd District Court. District Attorney Ann Reed handled the forfeiture proceedings and the house was award
Family Dollar in Sweetwater is currently going through some major changes inside the store and customers will get to see the finished product this weekend during the store's Customer Appreciation Weekend.
Funeral services for Clayton Brown, 77, of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Roscoe with Rev. Adam Davis and Ervin Lehrman officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Brown died Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service for Terri Elaine Stewart, 42, of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories, with Rev. James Taylor officiating.
Stewart died Monday, March 28, 2011, in Sweetwater. She was born March 1, 1969, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She married Richard Stewart on Sept. 24, 1997, in Roscoe. Terri attended school in Post, Texas. She was a custodian for Highland School District and worked closely with the sophomore class. She was also a bus driver for the school. Terri had lived in Roscoe since 1999.
Kathleen Jo Frazier, 85 of Marshall, passed away March 27, 2011. She was born March 1, 1926, in McCulloch County, Texas to Harvey Shields and Alberta Sikes Shields.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving Kathleen are two daughters, Doris Coleman of Marshall and Laverne Bryant of Sweetwater; son, Wayne Adkison of Rock Springs, Wyoming; sisters, Marvaleen Kildore, Francis Cryer and Joyce Reagan, of Oklahoma; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, G.L. Shields.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 110 calls for service, issued 18 citations and made five arrests from March 26-27, 2011.
The SPD received 67, 911 calls.
