SNYDER â Sweetwater got its first District 4-3A volleyball win by beating Snyder in four games Tues-day. The Lady Mustangs won by scores of 29-27, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17 as they improved to 1-1 in district and 21-11 overall while Sny-der fell to 0-2, 21-10.
Sweetwater had several top individual performan-ces. Kendra Crosson led the team with 17 kills and also finished with 20 digs to share team honors with her sister Kelsi Crosson. The latter also had 13 kills while Kathleen Campbell and Shelby Cason had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for the Lady Mustangs.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 49 calls for service, issued no citations and made three arrests on Sept. 25, 2012.
The SPD received 24, 911 calls.

The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had six calls for service, served six civil papers and made two arrests on Sept. 25, 2012.

Many students participated in See You At The Pole this year, with many showing up for morning prayer around 7 a.m. at the Sweetwater High School flag pole on Wednesday morning, Sept. 26, 2012. Sweetwater High School student Dallas McFaul led the group in songs, also playing his acoustic guitar. âAWAKENâ (from Ephesians 3:14-21) was the theme this year for the annual global day of student prayer. This is the 22nd anniversary for See You at the Pole, a student-initiated and student-led movement that started in the Ft. Worth suburb of Burleson, Texas in 1990.
One person died this morning after an 18-wheeler carrying Acme Brick Company cinder blocks and two pick-up trucks collided on Interstate 20, near the TA truck stop. Police said Michael Creek, 62, an Abilene truck driver, died after he lost control of his 18-wheeler when one of the vehicles in front of him rear-ended another vehicle. Creekâs truck then hit the cars and a guardrail before flipping. Sweetwater Emergency Services received the call about 5:15 a.m. about the crash. The other two drivers were transported to Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
Clifford Errol Worsham pled guilty to Judge Glen Harrison during 32nd Judicial District Court proceedings on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.
Worsham pled guilty to engaging in organized criminal activity, a first degree felony. The charged stemmed from a crack cocaine distribution house being busted in Sweetwater on Oct. 6, 2010.
