Playoffs could be on the line in the opener of todayâ€™s Sweetwater vs. Snyder doubleheader at Mustang Gym, at least for the home team. Pride will be the primary motivation in the nightcap.
Sweetwaterâ€™s girls face a must win against Snyder if they are to make it to the postseason.
The Lady Mustangs and Big Spring are tied for third place in the District 4-3A standings as both are 4-4 with two games remaining, and the teams have split in their two meetings, with each winning on the road.
Sweetwaterâ€™s JV girls basketball team will be trying to get back on track today against Snyder after the team suffered its first defeat of the season Tuesday.
Sweetwaterâ€™s 43-30 loss at Monahans came after the team had run off 21 straight wins this season.
Cierra Knox led Sweetwa-ter (7-1 in district play) on Tuesday by scoring 11 points while Abby McPherson had nine, Maddie Jones four, Jaya Atkins three, Lexi Castillo two and Bianca Castillo one. The freshman girls (4-4, 11-8) lost 31-15 as Alaina Andrews had five, Abby Garcia and Payton Moore four and Morgan Rudel two.

Residents, staff, family and volunteers of Nolan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center were treated to an Elvis concert, to celebrate Elvis' Birthday Month.
Harvey McFadden has been entertaining as a Elvis tribute artist for 12 years. This was Harvey's fifth performance at Nolan Nursing.
Harvey will beÂ participating in Abilene for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo in September for three nights. He enjoys entertaining seniors in the Big Country.

The purpose of the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health Department Family Planning Program is to make available to citizens of the State who are of childbearing age comprehensive medical knowledge, assistance and services relating to the planning of families". The purpose of family planning is to provide women and men a means by which they decide for themselves the number, timing and spacing of their children.
Texas State Technical College announced that 20 members of its faculty and staff received the TSTC Chancellorâ€™s Excellence Award. Eight employees from TSTC West Texas earned the award this year. The TSTC Chancellorâ€™s Award for Excellence was established to recognize the outstanding contributions and achievements of faculty and staff who serve the students of TSTC and the communities of Texas, those whose demonstrated commitment to excellence makes a difference in the lives of others.
Kane Peavy of Roscoe, a student at Roscoe Collegiate High School, has been nominated to represent Texas as a National Youth Correspondent to the 2013 Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University.
Peavy has been awarded the opportunity to join a select group of 250 students from across the country to participate in an intensive week-long study of journalism and media. Peavy was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.
