Left alone, it tends to increase in density and detrimental effect. It thrives – even through drought – on 74 million acres of the Southwest, most of that in Texas.

An estimated 150 acres of land burned just off of Interstate 20 on Friday afternoon. The blaze began when an 18-wheeler overheated a wheel bearing, causing it to lose a front wheel and start a fire in the median, which spread to the field north of the interstate, according to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden. Many entities assisted in extinguishing the blaze with it spreading due to 99 degree weather with 12 percent humidity and 19 mile per hour winds.
Sweetwater and the surrounding area has been "going buggy" with an increase of moths in the area.
According to KTXS, the rise of the insects has been due in part to a succession of humidity, rain and extreme heat. From cars, homes and all over, the moths are known to hide in cracks and crevices.
Bill Lewis with Lewis Pest Control said that the increase is also due in part to a number of types of moths--including cutworm moths--laying eggs. While they do not pose any kind of real threat, Lewis says that the "bothersome" pests are only of concern when taking part in outdoor events.
SWEETWATER – The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a rangeland recovery program from 6-8:30 p.m. May 8 in the Nolan County Courthouse’s third floor meeting room.

Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before they leave to their new homes.
A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community. That’s the message organizers are touting with the 2012 National Hospital Week theme, “Making Miracles Happen”.
The event theme, announced this week, is the centerpiece of a promotional campaign aimed at uniting health care facilities across the country during the May 6-12 celebration.
