The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 98 calls for service, issued eight citations and made six arrests from July 27-29, 2012.
The SPD received 99, 911 calls.

According to Sweetwater Chief of Police Brian Frieda, preliminary results on the body found along Interstate 20 on Thursday appear to be that of a "mature adult male."
Chief Frieda stated that the remains have been sent to an anthropologist at the University of North Texas. "The anthropologist will begin to try to figure out how long the body had been in out there in the median and will try to determine a cause of death. DNA samples will also be taken and put into various databases to try to determine the man's identity."
Many area residents attended the Sweet H2O concert on Oak Street this past Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the North Oak Arts and Entertainment District. Several musicians performed for the audience and many vendors were also set up selling food and wares to benefit their organizations and the Texas Theater. Music began at 5 p.m.
The West Texas Innovation Network is co-sponsoring an Entrepreneur Boot Camp to assist new business start-ups. The boot camp will be held Friday Aug. 10, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hunter Welcome Center on the ACU campus.
Jump Rope Camp will be Aug. 6-8 for children that have completed first through fourth grade. For more information, contact Rajeania Pittman at 338-4342.
Camp will take place at the Sweetwater Intermediate School gym. Third and fourth grades will be from 9 a.m. to noon and first and second grades will be from 1-3 p.m.
All proceeds from the camp will go to the Sweetwater Intermediate School Jump Rope Team.
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has four dogs available for adoption.
Available for adoption is a female chihuahua, a male Labrador and two males mixed breeds, one being a puppy. According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before they leave to their new homes.
Nancy R. Meneses, age 54, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Kenneth L. â€śCoachâ€ť Dismuke, 85, of Uvalde, passed away July 18, 2012. He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Plava, Texas to the late Luther Jackson and Mary F. Love Dismuke. Kenneth was a coach and teacher retiring from Southwest Texas Junior College and a member of The First United Methodist Church of Uvalde.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Debbie Horton and husband Bob of Victoria; a sister, Juanita Shields of Owasso, Okla.; two grandchildren, Lindi Horton, Cody Horton and wife, Bianca; and two great-grandchildren, Haley Horton and Carly Jo Horton.
Master Chip Townsend, owner of the area-wide Team Chip Tae Kwon Do centers, spoke to the local chapter of the Rotary Club during their lunch-time meeting on Monday, July 23 at the local TSTC (Texas State Technical College) campus.
Before his presentation, Townsend showed two video clips to Rotarians showcasing his extraordinary ability of breaking boards, concrete slabs and other objects. The second video, courtesy of ESPN, featured Townsend and several of his students at a competition where he broke a world record.
