The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 52 calls for service, issued no citations and made two arrests on Nov. 29, 2012.
The SPD received 22, 911 calls.

The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will once again host the annual Christmas parade this year.
The parade will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012. Line up will begin at 4 p.m. in the Higginbotham parking lot. The parade will travel west to Pecan Street.
The theme for this year's parade will be "Peace on Earth." Those wishing to participate are asked to call 235-5488 or go by the Chamber offices at 810 E. Broadway to fill out an entry form. The deadline to enter is by noon on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012. Remember, Santa cannot be on the float as it is the entry of the Chamber.

As the month of November comes to a close and the Holiday season begins, looking back I have found this to be a November to remember.Â It has been a time of trial and tribulation as well as victory in the valley.Â I ask myself, âWhat do I need to remember?â Romans 8:28 says, âAnd we KNOW that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.â
The 39th annual Christmas Craft Show, hosted by the Sweetwater Elks Lodge #1257, will be open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Concessions will be available and absolutely no pets are allowed at the event.
The Sweetwater Goodfellows were started by four Rotarians in approximately 1929.Â The Goodfellows have gone through many changes over the years.Â Today their mission is âto provide food and toys to needy families with children and food to needy individuals during the Christmas season.âÂ
Wal-Mart has once again partnered with the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center to provide a way for many children in the area to have a better Christmas.
The angel tree at Wal-Mart represents children who have been served by the WTCAC this year. Each angel has a child's gender, ages, sizes and special needs or a favorite toy of character that the child would like.
Both main lanes of westbound Interstate 20 at the US 84 overpass in Nolan County are temporarily closed starting to allow crews to demolish and remove a bridge that was damaged after a collision in late September.
The closure is expected to remain in effect for about a week. Traffic will be detoured to US 84 Business and routed around the overpass before being directed back to westbound I-20. The 3/4 mile detour is the same route that was used immediately following the collision. Signs, cones and message boards will be in place to direct drivers.

Sweetwater teams had a perfect first day of basket-ball competition Thursday at their respective tourna-ments played in Ballinger.
Sweetwaterâs boys (2-1) beat Hawley 43-29 as they advanced into todayâs 7:30 p.m. semifinal against host team Ballinger. Todayâs winner will play for the championship against either Jim Ned or Clyde at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Isaiah McGee led Sweetwater with 10 points. Quentin Wetsel added nine, Rhett Torres seven, Dylan Bennett six, Cole Maxwell four, Deandre Gatson three and Michael Hunt and Tre Taylor two. Sweetwater was up by 22, 28-6, at halftime.
