Sweetwaterâ€™s boys, winners of five straight, will try to stay hot when they start 2013 basketball action by facing Coahoma at 6 p.m. today at Mustang Gym.
The Mustangs (9-7) beat Colorado City 45-42 in their last home game Dec. 18 to start the streak and won all four games at Ansonâ€™s hol-iday tournament that ended on Saturday.

Texas Public Radio (TPR) announced it is now able to provide public radio service to the Big Country. The new, non-profit FM station reaches Snyder, Sweetwater, Colorado City, Big Spring and surrounding areas which are presently out of range of other public radio providers. This is the first major expansion for Texas Public Radioâ€™s services since the debut of KTXI 90.1 FM in the Texas Hill Country in 1998.
Seven elected officials were sworn into office on Wednesday morning, January 2, at the Nolan County Courthouse.
They were (from left to right) Nolan County Precinct 1 Commissioner Terry Willman, Nolan County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tommy White, Nolan County Attorney Lisa Peterson, District Attorney Ann Reed, Nolan County Tax Collector Kathy Bowen, Nolan County Sheriff David Warren and Nolan County Constable Will Lenoir.

Denison â€” Mary Imogene Mathews Jones, age 87, passed from this life Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.
Mrs. Jones was born March 3, 1925, in Nolan County, Sweetwater, Texas the daughter of Roy Ellis and Mary Alpha (Gray) Mathews.
