Roscoe native Dan Hunter served as guest speaker at the sports banquet. Hunter is currently a professor at Tarleton State University in the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences.
He was previously chief executive office/manager of the Southwestern Peanut Growersâ€™ Association. Prior to that, he served as the government relations representative for the National Cotton Council, and also worked as a primary legislative staff member for former Congressman Larry Combest as well as for Congressman Fred Grandy.

Lela Pearl Ohlhausen
A graveside service for Lela Pearl Ohlhausen, 96, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2012, at Caps Cemetery near Abilene with her family officiating the service. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

A worker with GE Wind Services was involved in an industrial accident on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Trent-Mesa Wind Farm, located east of Sweetwater and off of Adrian Road at County Road 131.
The incident took place as the employee was working on a transformer. An electrical discharge occurred, letting off a bright flash at the scene. The worker was wearing a protective suit at the time, and the machine was still in tact after the accident.
The Nolan County Cruisers hosted their second car show benefitting the West Texas Children's Advocacy Center on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Nolan County Courthouse. A total of 48 vehicles were entered into the show, raising $1,000 for WTCAC. A check was presented to WTCAC on Thursday, May 17, 2012. The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 43 calls for service, issued 22 citations and made one arrest on May 16, 2012.

Funeral services for Lela Pearl Ohlhausen, 95, of Sweetwater, are pending with McCoy Funeral Home.
Ohlhausen died Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Gilmer.
Memorial services for Bonnie Fay Crain, 63, of Sweetwater, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at Normandy Avenue Church of Christ followed by a 2 p.m. graveside service at Nolan Cemetery with Duane McCoy officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Crain died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1948, in Sweetwater. She was a long time member of Normandy Avenue Church of Christ. She had worked at Ludlum Measurements as a repair tech.
Ralph E. (Gene) Stith, age 87, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Garden of Memories with Rev. Keith Clower officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
