The state redistricting debacle has not only making an impact on the state's presidential primary this year, but also on the local races.
However, with the recent announcement that the Texas presidential primary date has been set for Tuesday, May 29, Kathy Bowen with the Nolan County Tax Office wants to assist voters in the interim while putting some rumors to rest.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 51 calls for service, issued five citations and made no arrests on March 1, 2012.
The SPD received 21, 911 calls.

â€¢ Family violence assault â€”Â 1600 block of Grand.
The Nolan County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) had five calls for service, served no civil papers and made four arrests on March 1, 2012.

Sweetwater, Texas â€” Adlie S. (Bud) Smith, Jr., 87, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at his daughterâ€™s home in Conroe, Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday March 7, at 11 a.m. at Garden of Memories. Rev. James Baker will officiate with McCoy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Bud was born April 3, 1924 in Dallas, Texas, to Adlie and Alice Smith. He was raised in McCaulley, Texas with four siblings. He graduated McCaulley High School in 1942 and joined the US Army Air Corps.
Guyna Bea (Davis) Cherry, age 83, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Brownlow and Doug Crum officiating. Burial will follow at Roby Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Guyna was born June 8, 1928, in Roby, Texas to Guyon Jarrett and Beatrice (Hubbard) Davis.
MSGT Ernie H. Kinney, U. S. Air Force (ret.) was reunited with his wife of 57 years, Bernice Norris on Feb. 27, 2012, and are both dancing with the angels in heaven. He was born on June 13, 1928 in Bayard, NE to Jeff Everett and Iva Pearl Kinney. He graduated Valedictorian of Minatare High School in Nebraska. He retired from the U. S. Air Force in 1970 after serving 23 distinguished years personally assisting several Generals and also retired from the San Antonio Housing Authority in 1999.

FRIDAY, MARCH 9
After being the last school to make an appearance in its Wood Bat Classic at Newman Park, the host Sweetwater baseball team quickly made a strong im-pression Friday with back-to-back shutout wins.
The Mustangs opened by crushing Post 14-0 in their first game, then held off Wall 2-0 to complete the sweep. The victories pushed Sweetwater (4-3-1) over the .500 mark for the first time this season, though they still had two more games on Saturday to wrap up their annual three-day event.

The Sweetwater High School girls golf team won second place after firing a one-day 374 total this past Monday at the Brownwood Bluebonnet Invitational.
Sweetwaterâ€™s Alex Gomez took second place medalist honors after winning a play-off with Snyderâ€™s Faith Wil-liams and Sabrina Castillo. All three shot 87s at the end of regulation, finishing just two shots behind Kayla Johnson of Wylie.
