The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 43 calls for service, issued no citations and made five arrests on Sept. 13, 2012.
The SPD received 34, 911 calls.

Paul Sadler, the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate, made a stop in Sweetwater on Wednesday morning, September 12 for a "meet and greet" event with the public, hosted by Sweetwater Mayor Greg Wortham.
Following the gathering, Sadler sat down with the Sweetwater Reporter to give voters an insight on why he should come out as the victor in November.
Sadler said that between he and his opponent, Republican Senate candidate Ted Cruz, he is the only one who is qualified and has experience. Between 1991 and 2003, Sadler served in the Texas House of Representatives.
During the Sweetwater City Commission meeting on Tuesday morning, September 11 at City Hall, various civic committees saw their members approved to continue their service, while one group will welcome a new member.
The commission approved the appointment of a SEED (Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development) board member to replace outgoing member Kyle Lawrence. Only one name was given from the overall commission, current city commissioner Dr. Jerod Peek. His three-year term will run from October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2015.
â€śMinistry is about loving God and putting others first,â€ť a simple statement with eternal implications for the Kingdom of God; and the statement guides the ministry of David Woods. Woods is the newest member of the staff at First Baptist Church in Sweetwater.
Sometimes the journey isn't easy, but can be made easier with the right skills. Two local residents, Matthew and Karyn Carbone, are in the process of bringing Family Life Skills to Sweetwater. Life Skills is a gender-specific, 26-30 week course that meets for three hours a week. The classes target issues like anger and abuse, low self-esteem, understanding your emotions, communication in relationships, childhood wounds, rejection, addiction, abandonment, etc.
Bedford â€” Melba Hand Roggenbuck, 90, formerly of Sweetwater, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, in a Bedford hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with Pastor Rhonda Greenwood officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Sweetwater Animal Control currently has one dog available for adoption.
Available for adoption is a chihuahua. According to Sweetwaterâ€™s animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before they leave to their new homes.
