The Roscoe girls pulled away late for a 44-41 win over Stamford on Friday, but Roscoeâ€™s boys and both of Highlandâ€™s teams lost.
Roscoeâ€™s girls were led by Lynnsi Moses, who poured in a game-high 21 points to help her team improve to 2-3 in District 9-A, Division I games and 12-12 overall. Faith Boren had 12 points, Natalie Anthony and Mirian Solis three, Carolina Perez and Jacinda Morales two and Sara Kingston one.
The Roscoe boys (1-3 in district) lost 55-20. John Hermosillio had six points, Matthew Cuellar and Cutter Davilla five and Keeston Ford four for the Plowboys.
The Sweetwater High School boys and girls powerlifting teams both placed first in their divi-sions at meets held last Thursday in Big Spring.
For the boys, individu-al winners were Donald Baker (950 pounds) in the 148-pound class, Ryan Linebaugh (1,200) in the 165-pound class, Sam Nemir (1,300) in the 181-pound class, Alex Garcia (1,165) in the 198-pound class and Mateo Gonzales (1,405) in the 242-pound class. Also, Linebaugh received the Best Lifter Award.

Delene Blair Tyler, 81, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
Services will be in Quitaque at First United Methodist Church, at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. Rev. Steve Ulrey will officiate with interment in Rest Haven Cemetery in Quitaque directed by McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
There will be a formal family visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, at the First Methodist Church in Quitaque.
Delene was born to Harry and Ermine Blair on July 17, 1930, in Clarendon, TX. She married Grady Lee Tyler on Nov. 11, 1947, in Dallas, TX.
SAN ANGELO â€” In celebration of Patâ€™s entrance into our Lordâ€™s hand, we commend his soul.Â Patâ€™s life began in Robert Lee, Texas on Aug. 29, 1959, as the sixth child of Johnny and Doris Kohutek. He was a true blessing to all of the family.Â Pat was a graduate of Reagan County High School in Big Lake and a part of the Class of 1977. Patâ€™s life extended to Jan. 19, 2012, and passed away at the age of 52 after battling cancer for numerous years.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Johnny; and a brother Steven John.Â
Zelna N. "Chris" Floyd, 89 went to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening, Jan. 18, 2012, at an Aspermont care center. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. A graveside service was held in the double mountain cemetery under the care and direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Chirs was born March 14,1922, in Stonewall County to John William Criswell and Mary Caldwell Criswell. Chris was a homemaker and married Bunk FloydÂ Aug. 31, 1941, in Peacock Texas. He preceded her in death. Chris was a member of the Methodist Church.
Sheri's Texas Tattoo is starting the year off great as artists Sheri and Hunter have just returned from the 10th annual Star of Texas Tattoo Art Revival held last week in Austin.
Sheri Baugh, owner of Texas Tattoo located in Sweetwater, is very thankful that her clients go to the conventions and show their art. "We couldn't win without their participation," she said.
The "Top Secret in Texas" Photography Retreat will be held Jan. 26-28, 2012 at the WindMill Ranch Preserve in Snyder, located on 9180 West Highway 180.
The retreat will be led by Lara Blair, founder of Lara Blair Images and Modern Prairie Girl Studio. She describes herself as "a professional photographer...and a teacher of fellow photographers who desire to make original portrait art that stands out from the crowd."
The annual Go Red for Women luncheon will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at the Sweetwater TSTC (Texas State Technical College) campus.
Tickets for the luncheon are $10 per person. Businesses can sponsor a table for $80, which will include six tickets and promotional benefits with the business's logo at the table.
