Music students of Noreen Carson presented classic Disney melodies at their annual costume recital held in the First Baptist Church on April 10. Participating students were (front row, l. to r.) Dressed in Disney character costumes, students of Noreen Carson performed classic Disney melodies for a large audience of family and friends and served refreshments afterward in the First Baptist fellowship hall. The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 32 calls for service, issued 10 citations and made five arrests on April 26, 2011.
The SPD received seven, 911 calls.

ABILENE â€” Tickets for the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet to be held May 9 at the Abilene Civic Center are on sale through Friday, April 29.
The SISD (Sweetwater Independent School District) Board of Trustees met for its regular session meeting on Monday evening, April 18 at the Administration Building.
A variety of presentations were made at the meeting, recognizing individuals, groups and schools for their high honors. A resolution for seven different school entities were read by school board members, and each participant, teacher and principal received a copy.

June Black McMillan, 78, of Colorado City, passed away at her home on April 24, 2011. All arrangements are pending with Kiker-Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City, Texas.
Sweetwater residents enjoyed a sunrise service on Easter morning at the Mustang Bowl. The service was hosted by the Nolan County Ministerial Alliance. Pastors from the alliance spoke, and a praise band from First United Methodist Church led the worship portion of the service.
