It has been a week since a 13-year-old girl from Colorado City has been missing.
Hailey Darlene Dunn was last seen on Monday, Dec. 27, at 1804 Chestnut Street in Colorado City around 1 p.m., wearing navy blue sweatpants, a short sleeved light colored T-shirt and pink and white tennis shoes. Hailey has hazel eyes, pierced ears and brown hair with blondish streaks. She is 5'1" and weighs 120 pounds.
New elected officials were sworn in for 2011 on Monday during a ceremony held at the Nolan County Courthouse. 32nd Judicial District Judge Glen Harrison swore in nine officials during the ceremony including Nolan County Court at Law Judge David Hall, Nolan County Judge Tim Fambrough, Nolan County Commissioner, Precinct 2 Terry Locklar, Nolan County Commissioner, Precinct 4 Tony Lara, District Clerk, Patti Neill, County Clerk Pat McGowan, County Treasurer Gayle Biggerstaff, Justice of the Peace Sharon Gardner and County Surveyor, Stanley Morris.
Sweetwater Independent School District students got back into the swing of things on Monday when school began again after the Christmas and New Year holiday. Holy Mass of Christian burial for Rosa Q. Alvarado, 79, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with father Michael Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Alvarado died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, in Abilene.
Alton Dale (AD) Copeland, 94 passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Hendrick Hospice inpatient unit. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Lawn Baptist Church with the Reverend Price Mathieson and Lynn Turnbow officiating. Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation was held from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services for James Hugh Ince, 84, of Roscoe, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Roscoe Church of Christ with Larry Fluitt and Royce Clay officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home in Roscoe.
Ince died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.

President Barack Obama named Ray Smola as a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nationâ€™s highest honor for math and science teachers. Smola has been a physics teacher at Heidelberg High School in Germany for the past eight years and is among the 103 recipients of the award. He has also taught at Mannheim Middle School, Kubasaki High School in Okinawa, Japan (all for the Department of Defense Education Activity), and Stephenville High School in Texas.
Members of the Nolan County Foundation Board recently announced the awarding of $1,000 to Sweetwater Christian Schools. In making the announcement and presenting agency representative Rodney Foster this assistance, Jerry Riggs, President of the NCF, stressed the importance of supporting worthwhile agencies as they serve vital needs for Nolan County residents. Riggs also stated that the NCF will be identifying other special needs and giving additional financial assistance in the near future.
Funeral services for Sherron Kay Bush, 64, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Mike Sells officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Bush died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 20, 1946, in Roscoe. She was a Baptist and had worked as a primary care giver. She was a life long resident of Roscoe, Sweetwater and Nolan County.
