National Hospital Week is upon us once again and Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital (RPMH) would like to leverage this opportunity to share with the community information about its dedicated team and the healthcare facilities it provides.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 38 calls for service, issued seven citations and made one arrest on May 10, 2011.
The SPD received 22, 911 calls.

Funeral services for Glenn Bond Fitzgerald, 90, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Pastor Ron Chamberlain officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Fitzgerald died Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in Sweetwater.
When Caden Smith of Roscoe competes in the Class 1A boys discus Friday, he will be one of the most experienced athletes in the state track and field meet.
Smith, a senior who also competes in the shot put on Saturday, also qualified in the discus and shot put when he was a sophomore and junior. He actually went to state twice his sophomore year, when Roscoe won its first Class 1A basketball title with the 6-3, 250-pound Smith playing a major role in leading the Plowboys to the championship.
The Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED) Board of Directors met for its regular session meeting on Monday morning, May 9, 2011 at the Chamber of Commerce.
Opening the meeting was a presentation on Ludlum Measurements, Inc. from Jeanie McPherson along with Larry Ludlum. Both McPherson and Ludlum offered a strong report on the company, noting progress from the past as well as recent results should lead to positive projections. A discussion on various aspects of the industry with the board members ended the presentation, in which the board was quick to praise the local entity.
One candidate in the race for Roscoe City Council Place 3 not only wants your vote on May 14, but wants you to know more about himself.
Virg Pruitt is one of five on the ballot for Place 3 within the Roscoe City Council. "I have lived in Roscoe my entire life," he said. "Graduated here, live here and I am raising a family here."
Pruitt currently serves as the Assistant Fire Chief for the Roscoe Volunteer Fire Department and has worked for the city of Roscoe in the past. Because of his former and current positions, Pruitt says that he is very familiar with the town and its citizens.
Thanks to community donations, the Aim for Success program will be presented to all SISD 6th â€“ 12th grade students on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Sweetwater High School.
On Wednesday, May 11, at 6 p.m., Aim for Success will be presenting their powerful program, â€śTeens, Sex and Choicesâ€ť, at a parents-only meeting. The parent presentation will be held in the Sweetwater Middle School Gym at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
This program will preview what the students will see the next day and provide parents with helpful hints about how and when to communicate with your children about sexual activity.
Roscoe State Bank had a bake sale and sold chances to win a gift basket filled with items donated by various merchants. Winner of the gift basket was Audelia Petrusek.
