Luis Gaxiola has been named as the Football Player of the Week for Sweetwater. Gaxiola, a 6-0, 170-pound junior defensive end, had nine solo tackles, including one for a loss, plus one sack and one quarterback pressure, and also assisted on five tackles in Sweetwaterâs 27-14 loss to Brownwood.

A "peeping tom" accused of spying on women in restrooms of two south side restaurants has been arrested.
Jeremy Jacques was marched into the law enforcement center in Abilene around noon Monday. The 40-year-old Sweetwater resident is charged with disorderly conduct.
Authorities say he allegedly spied on women in restrooms at Abuelo's and Hobby Lobby. It's believed there were also incidents at other south side restaurants.
According to police, the incidents are very similar in nature and the suspect descriptions in both incidents were the same.
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Chamber Coffee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the National WASP WWII Museum, located at 210 Avenger Field Road.
Sharron Davis is at the museum as the Executive Director. The museum opened in 2005 and serves as a national point of interest. The WASP Museum has one full time employee and three part time employees.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 141 calls for service, issued 17 citations and made five arrests from Oct. 28-30, 2011.
The SPD received 53, 911 calls.

Sweetwater Animal Control currently has three dogs available for adoption.
One of the adoptable pets is a white female labrador mix puppy. Another of the adoptable pets is a brown male terrier mix (shown). Another of the adoptable pets is a brown male chihuahua.
According to Sweetwater's new animal control officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a week to 10 days. "I like to give these animals a chance and would rather have someone adopt them than to have to put them down."
Erma Lee (Haywood) Audsley passed away 31 October 2011 after a long battle with Parkinsonâs disease. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 1, at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Gashland United Presbyterian Church, 8029 N. Oak Tfwy, Kansas City, Mo. followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Dewitt, Carroll County, Missouri.
