According to media partners at bigcountryhomepage.com on Tuesday evening, Pastor Steven PeÃ±a with the First Assembly of God, called together a prayer vigil in support of Cpl. Darrell Campbell who is fighting for his life after a shooting incident in Snyder.
Lee Burchfield works in town and says she's spoken with Campbell when he comes into her store and says she considers him a good friend.
The Stamford City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to move forward with the sale of their water to Tenaska.
Monday, July 11, was Free Slurpee Day at 7-Eleven. All day, customers nationwide were able to get unlimited Slurpees in special seven-point-11-ounce cups. The promotion has been held every year since 2002 in honor of 7-Eleven's unofficial birthday. "USA Today" reports the company gave away four-and-a-half-million tiny cups of its signature icy drink on July 11, last year. The Nolan County Complex Fire near Lake Sweetwater has burned 3,880 acres and is now 40 percent contained. According to the Texas Forest Service, this is a complex of two lightning-caused fires that burned together and encroached on the city limits of Sweetwater. Hundreds of homes were threatened, 30 were evacuated, but none were lost. Numerous airtankers, single-engine airtankers, helicopters and ground resources responded rapidly from Abilene and other staging areas.
The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) received 42 calls for service, issued five citations and made four arrests on July 11, 2011.

ABILENE â€“ Hank Allen Smith, 2 day old infant son of Nathan and Marsha Smith, went to be with Jesus on July 5, 2011. Hankâ€™s service was held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday July 6, 2011 at the Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ with interment at McBee Cemetery in Ovalo, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Hank was born on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Abilene Regional Hospital. At the end Hank was able to bring together a loving family, a loving church family and many of his parentâ€™s friends. Hankâ€™s service was a testament of the good will of so many.
On Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at about 12:25 a.m. officers with the Snyder Police Department were dispatched to the 700 block of 26th Street in reference to a call of shots fired in the area. Cpl. Darrell Campbell and Officer Lee Ortiz responded to the area where they made contact with several individuals in a front yard of 700 26th Street. While speaking with the subjects a male who was at the residence who has not been identified produced a weapon and shot Cpl. Campbell then confronted Officer Ortiz. Officer Ortiz and the male were involved in a shooting and the male was killed at the scene.

Residents from Stamford and activist organizations from around the state were in Stamford on Monday for a Q&A session with Tenaska.
Tenaska is planning to build a power plant that will run on coal. The catch? The plant requires millions of gallons of water to operate.
Tenaska has gone to several cities to get the water they need, most have turned them away.
Stamford has entertained the idea and could decide to provide the water they need to run the plant. But it all comes at a cost, for both the residents of Stamford and Tenaska.
