J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center received two special visitors last week â€”Santa and Mrs. Claus. The two stopped by to visit with students and take photos with the students. On Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010 held in the arms of, and surrounded by family in her home, Lanell Davis Lee, was called back to our Heavenly Father. We know she was only loaned to us by God, but never prepared for the day we would have to give her back.
Upon arrival at the Pearly Gates, she was greeted with open arms by her mother, Minnie Lou Davis, father, Taylor Davis and brother, Billy Ray Davis.
Funeral services for Golia Faye Williams, 81, of Snyder, were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rick Williams officiating. Interment followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home. A visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Williams died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital.

The Sweetwater Fire Department has won a 2010 Georgia-Pacific Bucket Brigadeâ„˘ grant. Chosen from more than 120 applicants in Georgia-Pacific facility communities in 23 states, the unit received $5,000 to purchase new equipment and gear.
(Sweetwater and Austin) â€“ The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) recently voted to issue an air permit for the proposed Tenaska Trailblazer Coal plant in Sweetwater, Texas. This is the third coal plant permitted in 2010 and the eleventh coal plant recently permitted in Texas that has yet to go online.
