Big Dance Round Up and Look Ahead

Last week we gave you a preview of the tournament and some predictions of teams that we felt could make a run to the Final 4. Well, those predictions were way off and the bracket this writer submitted to his friends and a couple websites sits in about 10 millionth place. All the wise guys were talking about Iowa State and Virginia. Those teams won a combined 1 game. Now we are going to go region by region to see what happened and what we can look forward to seeing next weekend.

Mustangs start district Tuesday

The Sweetwater High School baseball team will begin District 2-4A action at 7 p.m. Tuesday when it entertains Levelland. Roscoe elementary basketball tournament scheduled for April 18

Roscoe Collegiate has scheduled an elementary basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades K-6 for Saturday, April 18.

SW loses field, game to Snyder

SNYDER — Rather than hosting its district opener at Jerry Collins Complex, the Sweetwater softball team changed plans Friday because its field was too wet and went to Snyder instead because its playing surface was in better condition.

Lady Mustang co-ed volleyball tourney set

March 23, 2015

Sweetwater is planning to hold a first-ever Lady Mustang Co-ed Volleyball Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, at both Sweetwater High School gyms. The cost will be $60 per team. The teams will consist of four to six players, with at least two of them playing at all times and a maximum of eight players. All players must be on the roster to be eligible.

Roscoe’s Solis wins 400 dash in JV boys division at Hamlin track meet

Roscoe’s Juan Solis won the junior varsity boys division’s 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.17 at a recent track meet in Hamlin.

Sweetwater-Snyder district opener is moved to Snyder

March 20, 2015

The Sweetwater-Snyder district softball opener scheduled for 5 p.m. today has been moved to Snyder. The varsity game will still be held at 5 p.m., with the JV game to immediately follow. Today's games were originally scheduled to be played in Sweetwater but were moved due to the rainy weather that hit this morning.
Sweetwater is 3-2 for this season after defeating Ballinger, 8-5, Monday on a walk-off three-run homer by Abby Garcia in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Snyder is 10-5 overall and ranked No. 13 in the state, but lost 10-8 Tuesday in eight innings to Lubbock Coronado.

‘Stangs sweep twinbill in final district tuneup

After losing four of five games at Abilene’s three-day tournament and having all its scheduled games this week affected by weather, Sweetwater’s baseball team got good news Thursday.
