Mustangs score five times in final tuneup

August 23, 2013

The spread offense was a big change for Sweetwater’s football program when it was installed by newly-hired head coach Shane Mobley a year ago.
But it seems the Mustang players are finally adapting — even having fun with it.
After managing just one score in its opening scrimmage at Wichita Falls Hir-schi, Sweetwater’s offense scored on its first two plays against San Angelo Lake View in Thursday’s final scrimmage at the Bowl. And both scores came in spec-tacular fashion.

Mustangs host final scrimmage vs. L-View

August 22, 2013

Shane Mobley says he al-ready knows who his start-ers will be on Aug. 30 when Sweetwater opens the 2013 football season by traveling to Eastland.
But the second-year Mus-tang head coach said today’s final preseason scrimmage vs. San Angelo Lake View will help to decide who to have on the field when those players need a break.
“We want them to have the mentality to be able to play in the fourth quarter,” he said. “We’re looking at some players that will give our starters a breather. They need as much experi-ence as possible.”

‘Stangs air it out in 1st scrimmage

August 19, 2013

WICHITA FALLS — The best way to describe Sweet-water’s opening scrimmage against Wichita Falls Hir-schi on Friday might be to use the title of a Clint Eastwood movie.
There was the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The good: a productive passing game led by number one quarterback Kaegan Jeffrey, who completed 13 of 18 passes for 194 yards and Sweetwater’s only score, a 1-yard toss to Kaleb Hoov-er. Hoover (4 for 64), Bray Amos (3 for 68) and Isaiah McGee (4 for 47) were Jef-frey’s favorite targets.
