Mustangs end with big run but Lobos hang on

Until the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s finale, Sweet-water was on its way to a lopsided defeat at Mustang Gym. Then the tide began turning for the home team, starting with a free throw with 7:27 to play by Jacob Peyton that cut Levelland’s lead to 71-41.

Roscoe, Blackwell boys end with a loss

February 18, 2015

The Roscoe boys bas-ketball team ended its season on Tuesday with a 54-36 loss to Stamford.
In 14-1A, Blackwell’s boys lost to Bronte 53-20 in their finale to go 0-14 in district and 3-16 over-all.

Basketball, softball and baseball teams to all play here today

Sweetwater High School will have teams from three sports playing here today.
All three SHS boys bas-ketball teams will be hosting Levelland, starting with the freshmen at 5 p.m. fol-lowed by the JV at 6:30 and the varsity at 8 p.m., in their respective season finales.
The SHS softball team will begin its season by hosting Colorado City at 6 p.m. at Jerry Collins Complex. Also today, the Sweetwater baseball team will scrimmage Midland Lee at 5 p.m.

Kentucky came out and took care of business against one of the SEC cellar dwellers. The Wildcats opened up a 25 point lead before the half was over and then put in in cruise control for the second half. Willie Cauley-Stein led the balanced scoring effort by Kentucky with 14 points.

Hornets to face Ira after loss

After losing 53-36 to Bor-den County on Friday, the Highland boys will host Ira today and then prepare for the Class 1A basketball playoffs that start next week.

Hornets’ big win sets up battle for 2nd in Dist. 12-1A

By beating Loraine 76-28 on Tuesday, the Highland boys basketball team set up a District 12-1A showdown with Borden County for second place Friday at High-land’s gym.

JV girls win finale

The Sweetwater JV girls won 53-23 over Big Spring’s JV girls on Tuesday to fin-ish 7-3 in District 2-4A and 18-9 overall.
Texas Williams led Sweet-water’s win with 19 points while Sonora Medellin had 12 points and Jessica Poe 10. Angela Blueford had six points, Danielle Vega three, Ainsleigh Nelson two and Gewel Cherry one for the Lady Mustangs.
